The questing in this game is ho-hum crap that's been done time and time again, and the storyline of the game itself is still kind of murky to me.  It's everything else about this game that's the cool part.  Mundane poo like trading (which I've never really got into in other games) is kind of fun.  I've only done 2 or 3 of the trade runs, which really were kind of a pain in the ass...but the further you go along the more money, and danger there is.  Eventually (and I have no idea what it takes tbh) you can own your own ship and trade cross continent.  You can get attacked by other players and they take your stuff (but you still get a 20% cut when they turn it in).

The synergies of the different classes that you can use is complex and it actually takes a lot of thought to create a character.  And you can pretty much change your build whenever you want.

It's a F2P game, and I'm kind of put off by that, because I think a lot of times it's pay to win, and tbh I'm not sinking a lot of cash on any game.  But you can actually play for free and earn your patron status (i.e. subscription) through APEX.

You can own land, farms, mounts, etc.  So far I only own 2 mounts (one is for trade...a donkey), and a pet (mountain lion that can fight mobs with you as well as give you a speed buff).

It's pretty sweet, but it will take a lot of effort if you want to pay for your sub through APEX.

Yeah, pretty much.  I'm level 30 now and haven't encountered pvp yet.  I think I'm getting ready to get into those zones.  That's what I've been wanting to do for a while now, so it's kind of disappointing that there are no instanced pvp to at least be able to get a feel for the pvp.  So right now my character is made for solo'ing the pve stuff...and btw I haven't encountered many situations yet that require a group, so that's a bit different from my experience in MMORPG's.

One thing that kind of irks me about the game is the way crafting is set up.  Everything uses labor points and you only accrue a certain amount at a time.  "Free" players 5 labor points every 5 minutes while logged in, and none while logged out.  Patrons, or subscribers, get 10 labor points every 5 minutes while logged in, and 5 labor points every 5 minutes while logged out.  You use labor for everything from mining, farming, gathering, crafting, even opening up drops from enemies.  Right now it costs me anywhere from 5-7 labor points to check what I get as a drop from an enemy.  Then you take into account if you want to be a crafter.  For example, it costs 10 labor points to mine an iron node, from which you might get 2-3 iron ores and maybe a couple of pieces of raw stone.  Then if you want to process the iron, it costs 5 labor points to craft 3 iron ores into an iron ingot.  Also costs 5 labor points to process 3 raw stones into a stone brick.  So you can see where this is going.  You pretty much have to specialize in something and buy whatever else you need off the AH.  Or you can spend real money on "workman's compensation" which is a drought that will give you 1000 labor points.  I have no idea how much that costs, because I'm not buying it.  Or you can use what is called "loyalty coins" to buy one.  You get 5 loyalty coins per day for logging in, and 25 of those will buy you one workmans comp potion.  Or you can buy it off of the AH, which I think it goes for about 15 Gold the last I checked.  And gold ain't easy to come by.  I'm level 30 and have around 45 Gold, and I haven't bought that much off the AH.

Yeah labor point make no sense.  I play WURM and if I had to deal with labor points I would never get anything done. So that is how they are trying to to make there money.

Yeah pretty much.  If you want to really make in game money, then you're going to want to sub.  But like I said if you do it right, you can pay for the game with the money you make in the game.  So essentially it could still be F2P.

I have a love/hate thing with the labor points.  On the one hand it makes you manage your time and resources a whole lot more than any other MMORPG I've played.  On the other, it cuts down on competition while trying to harvest materials.
