Panthers believe Hardy innocent, will try to workout extension

Hardy is as important to this defense as Luke and TD imo.

You just don't pick up elite pass rusher at the corner store.

If you can. Could you get a JJ Watt while you're there.

We can't have elite guys at every position unfortunately.  Yet I do believe we could have a decent to good guy there.  Like I said, Ealy is starting to get the hang of things.  Next year he could be big time.  Our offense was what we should have focused on in the off-season.  We knew Gross was retiring, and we were yet to find Jeff Otah's replacement.  No way we should have given Hardy the tag before we found a decent LT.  Last year we were in luck.  You can't find good LTs on the market, yet there was one by chance that the Raiders foolishly let go in Veldheer.  He should have been our priority for the reasons I've stated, but in any case, we still shouldn't have given Hardy the tag.  At the very best concerning Hardy this off season, we should have locked him up long term.  Giving him the tag I'll have to say again was just a rental year.  Say Hardy had 15-20 sacks again.  You don't think his price tag would have at least been 15 million a year?  If I was Hardy, that is what it would have been to begin contract discussions.  Of course with Cam's contract, Luke's, and good free agents on the market in the coming years, that would have been too hefty a price.  Yet like I said, this is just my take.

I'm not asking for elite guys at every position. We don't have 1 elite guy in the secondary. And we won't need one if Hardy is on this team.

It also isn't smart to let the elite guys you do have walk.

Man, I can't believe this is still being debated.

I personally don't see how he'll be convicted. I think he'll be found innocent.

I do think tho, that the bad taste that will be in his mouth about this season due to the legal junk will be misdirected towards the Panthers, and not the NFL and Media that made the witch hunt take him down.

That being said, I'd love to have him back on the team, and I'd love to have him play for us this season. But, will JR and the media/NFL be able to swallow their pride and admit to mistakenly "labeling" Greg as a monster off the field when he very well could be very innocent.

I mean being young and stupid with speeding and being in a motor cycle wreck early in his career proves he was young and dumb.

THIS on the other hand is a little more serious an issue.

We will see what happens I guess. I'd like to see him play again, an stay with the Panthers. But, I have my doubts. Mostly due to the organization (JR) and the NFL/Media's portrait they painted of him being a "black mark" on Panthers' history again once again. (without the full legal process having played out, to save face in the midst of the NFL being publicly lynched for their slacking off of the Ray Rice case)

But, that's just my outlook.

I'm not trying to attack you or anything, but this just kills me every time I see it.  How does being in a motorcycle accident prove he's dumb?  I'll give you the speeding thing, speeding doesn't show the greatest judgement but is hardly indicative of "character concerns" or anything like that (not saying you said that, just trying to illustrate how it's being overblown).  Getting into a vehicle accident shows as much stupidity as getting a cold, bumping into someone in the hallway or dropping your cell phone.  Sometimes things just happen.

I agree, if I was judged by every time I was guilty of poor choices I'd have been hung on the court square.

Speeding.... yep Ive done that.

Vehicle accident... did that one too, lost my hand.

Domestic disturbance/assault... never touched a female but I've put myself in some situations that I could have avoided.

All in all this guy is being dissected because he is a "high profile" individual.  You have to exercise even more restraint and common sense in that situation but as we all know, young men with fast money and free time often ends in poor decisions and an errant perception of immortality.
