Marcus Lattimore is retiring

Lol at people thinking this guy was just a scrub.. come on!

He was an insane HS player... trust me he has ran me over and twisted my ankles a few time in conference play in the upstate.. As a freshmen at USC he made grown man runs. Breaking tackles, running like a train.

To take huge bone breaking traumatic injuries to the same knee at 19 and 21 is really damaging.. knee problems can lead to hip, feet, all ways to the way you run and move. He has always been a leader and a great fuging guy. Not the guy you'll see driving drunk in a Lambo or hitting people. Guy had the potential to be a workhorse NFL back, they drafted him to take over for Gore in a few years to give him time to heal. Really sucks man.. to work all your life, sacrifice every day in your youth to play this game, get to go to college, be one of the top RB in the SEC, and have that halted by two freak leg injuries.

He is a smart guy, he will be fine after football, he has a great community behind him. Sucks we didn't see what he had for the NFL. Niners draft well.. can't blame them.

I posted in the College Football forum because I still think of him as a Gamecock ... he's a class act and it's a shame that he can't continue his NFL dreams, but I love his attitude:

“I don’t want anybody to feel sorry for me, because I know God has a plan,” Lattimore said. “I may not understand it right now, but he does have a plan, and I’m excited about this next chapter."

And ... from what I hear, he may be coming back to USC to work with Spurrier. That would be fabulous.
