Jimmy Clausen was an inherited QB. NFL history shows new coaches bring in their own QB within their first 3 years on the job. Rivera did...just like almost every other new hire does. Rivera supports my statement....how you think it is an example against it is mindboggling.

Not once did I mention Newton winning a Super Bowl.

Just said Super Bowl QBs are the exception to the rule and are the ones who survive the coaching changes.

None of that is opinion. Just fact. It was all broken down over the last decade last time firing Rivera was brought up.

But I am done. I don't debate with grammar police, most go there when they have weak arguements and want to deflect

Your critical thinking skills are weak.

You guys really think there is NO chance Rivera gets fired? The way we've been playing lately, losing out isn't impossible. If we go 6-9-1 like I foresee us going, I think Rivera gets fired for sure. 3 losing seasons out of 4, under .500 for his career. And even if he had a rocking record, it is a certifiable fact that Ron Rivera blows on Sundays. Worst gameday coach in the league.

No.  I understand the one point you made there.  Issue is,  that is all you are thinking about.

More to it than that.....which is why the history is so lopsided in the direction I was referencing.    There are many reasons they make that move within the first 3 years.

My point is irrelevant, dude. Your overall premise is what I was alluding to.

You and I may not agree on much, but we do agree on this.

I definitely believe it's possible, and I even think it's warranted.

I like Rivera and I think he's a great guy, but I no longer believe in him as the head coach of this team.

We need to make a change this offseason.

dude, new coaches are bad news for QBs of the prior regime.  Simple and plain.

They want to win with their players, for their system.....not the old guys players that failed in the offense "made for them" under the prior staff.  QB is the center piece for an coach.  Plus, the starting fresh approach buys the new HC some time.

anyone who thinks a nontraditional QB like Cam has good odds surviving a coaching change for long.....I would disagree with strongly.  For him to have good odds of lasting you would have to have a slanted hire.  Hire someone that wants a nontraditional QB.  Cam doesn't fit what a lot of coaches would want to do to begin with.  Fit is important for a QB and Newton wouldn't fit ideally for many coaches....Round peg/square hole is no way to start a new regime.

I am just going to wait and see how the season unfolds before forming an opinion on whether or not Rivera should be fired.

I'd normally do the same, but from what I can see the things that make him a bad head coach aren't 'correctable' things.

That's why I've gone ahead and bailed.

I agree he's a great guy and I don't like making this kind of thread. His wife trolls the Patriots and his daughter is apparently reading Panthers message boards or at least used to. How can you not like Rivera the charitable guy, the pretty good interview guy? If there was a way to demote him to d-coordinator next year under Gus Malzahn or whomever, I'd be all for that. That doesn't happen in the NFL unfortunately.
