Oh, great, a list full of "NEWCOMERS." No, thanks. Not voting. THE CAM NEWTON SAGA NEEDS A SEASONED, WELL-REGARDED HEAD COACH. With a guy like Cowher, if Cam fails, there will be virtually no one who wonders if it's the coach. Same thing with the organization in general. If a guy Cowher can't eventually succeed in Carolina, some will say it's because he's been out of the game for a while, but a lot more people will wonder if Carolina is just a poorly-run organization in general. Cowher also puts pressure on Gettleman to up his game (e.g., quit neglecting the O-line), because the whole world knows Cowher would "probably prefer" to be both head coach and GM. Hire any of those guys up there, and if the team keeps sucking for years, for most people, it will be the coach's fault. A guy like Cowher changes the mindset in a way that's needed.

The choices in your poll suggest that you're interested in treading water.

P.S. I don't care if this will never happen. The question didn't ask who do you think it WILL BE, but who is your choice, that is, who SHOULD it be. This is who.

I'm not in favor of getting rid of Ron. I am in favor of not giving Ron flat out pathetic OL talent and seconfary talent.

Get rid of Ron and Newton is done. Simple and plain. Only QBs that survive a head coach change are Super Bowl QBs....no one else does. 1-3 years after they make the change a new QB is always in place

Peyton Manning, Phillip Rivers, and I'm sure they're others. Yes Peyton has a super bowl but he got that after the change.

I have done a break down before of new HCs going back a long time. Within 3 years....a move gets made and "their" QB gets brought in.

Rivers is still in the 1-3 window. He could prove to be one of the lone exceptions. Believing a non traditional QB would somehow break the standard procedure is a bit much IMO

Manning went to a Super Bowl before the coach change. There are examples of Super Bowl and Super Bowl winning QBs surviving

So Ron is the one that needs an OL, not Cam? Interesting...

And what about the QBs that made it to the Super Bowl and lost? Are they "Super Bowl QBs"? And what about the QBs whose years were wasted under poor management? Newton's successes have been in spite of Rivera. You're trying to create a new rule which doesn't exist. Cam being "done" if Rivera is gone is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard.

Even if Richardson wants to start over at both coach and QB, Cam still won't be "done" without Rivera.

Yes. Ron needs the OL. His team. Cam is his QB.

Name 3 HCs that 3 years after they arrived had the same QB when they walked in the door.....and that QB hadn't been or won a Super Bowl.

That is what NFL history shows. It means something. I'd bump the breakdown but it is gone and I'm not doing that over again

Wouldn't this be moot if the hire is Malzahn?

Trade for Chip Kelly...

Still ticked we didn't get him.

In all seriousness though, Rivera probably isn't going anywhere with that new contract. I think it's probably more realistic to think about OCs to bring in. Unfortunately, Rivera probably gets to pick and that doesn't excite me at all..

Rivera is Cam focused. That is why he got the gig. Once Cam has grown enough he can get away from Shula

Shaw would be my first choice but he is never leaving Stanford.

Malzhan is a cool outside the box hire. So it will never happen here. Plus no one is willing to expose an expensive QB the way his offenses do.

Some of the shine may be off Sumlin, and he doesn't give two poos about defense.

I wouldn't mind Gase, but how much of his success is him, and how much is it Peyton?

Everybody in SF wants to run Roman out of SF because he is too conservative and bad situation playcalling (sound familiar)

Hue Jackson is already a failed head coach and quickly becoming a folk legend around here since we didn't hire him.

The rest I don't have an opinion on.

But Shaw would be my #1. But will never happen.
