To me by hiring Gettleman, JR has finally acknowledged that the way to build a winning organization is by letting experts run the team's affairs rather than mortgaging future cap room and draft picks or letting nepotism reign supreme.

It took almost twenty years to get to this point and turning this franchise around won't be easy or pleasant, but it is necessary to finally put a consistently winning product on the field.

If you created this thread like 2-3 years ago, you would have been flamed so bad. I'm glad more people is catching on. I personally believe more people should catch on. After what happened with the lockout, poo was an embarrasment to be a Panthers fan. He should have stepped down once the lockout was over, let his sons catch over. I felt this way then, still feel the same way and most likely that will continue

If Gettleman is such an "expert," why was this his first GM job and at an older age? It's clear he had wanted to be one for a while. The jury's still out on Dave, so quit it with the "expert" nonsense. He hasn't earned "expert" yet. But I guess the threshold for being considered an "expert" by "some people" is lower for "some people."

If by "some people" you mean Giants GM Jerry Reese, coach Tom Coughlin, owner John Mara or former Giants GM Ernie Accorsi you would be right.

“Dave knows what a football player is,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. “He knows how to evaluate talent. He has done a great job of assessing our talent and the talent around the league and helping to identify those players who fill our needs. He is more than qualified to be Carolina's general manager. He is gifted and talented and has worked for years behind the scenes to make sure we are the best we can be.”

Successful on field? More so than some, but not as good as others.

But even if he ran the worst organization in football, I seriously doubt advice from message board fans would lead to any improvement.

His philosophy has hindered us.

Btw please never critique a politician because they are infallible simply bc you were never one and what right do you have to say how they could be better.
