Jerry Richardson

You actually think Jerry Richardson gives a fug about wins and losses?

1. The stadium is sold out thanks to the PSL owners. Winning and losing has no impact on that (118 consecutive sell-outs).

2. In 1993 JR paid $203M for the Panther franchise. As of August 2014, the Carolina Panthers are valued at $1.25B.

3. Revenue increased by 18% from 2013 to 2014 ($283M).

4. Gate receipts (tickets) in 2014 are $62M alone...

5. ...and the average revenue per fan after ticket purchases is another $50 per fan x 74,000 seats = $3.7M per game

All of this is based on the one simple, common denominator:  the place is sold out. Period. Winning and losing have no effect on the ever increasing Jerry Richardson bankroll...

Richardson can't stop players from getting injured. He can't erase the salary cap. And unless you want him to be Jerry Jones, he can't change what coaches do on Game Day.

What he can do, he's already done. He put an actual 'football guy' in charge of the operations, and that guy is trying to fix the mess. Sadly, some fans are dumb enough to believe it can be fixed overnight, and those same dumb fans want everybody from the owner on down fired when it doesn't happen.

Quit making "loyalty" your #1 priority. The fact that Hurney was allowed to hand out the contracts that he did without punishment until the Panthers sucked on the field and were too broke to do anything about it easily is all on Richardson.

He is the reason they have financial issues right now.

Also, no doubt that part of the reason Rivera wasn't fired two years ago when Gettleman was hired is because Richardson wanted to give Rivera more time. "Loyalty." Liking somebody. Not winning much with those being your priorities.

jerry is content with being competitive every few years as long as the "shield" is as strong as it could possibly be. it is amazing how florida state has a player who was accused of domestic violence and they are letting him play. his gf actually posted pictures of her bruises, but they are still let him play and letting it play out. he honestly disgusts me.

i've read your post several times and i'm still not sure which component of that situation is the one that "disgusts" you exactly

Feel free. Just don't expect me to value what you have to say.

Believe it or not, I'm of the opinion that Richardson has made plenty of mistakes (hiring and keeping Hurney is the primary one) but what I find stupid is the tendency to blame him for everything without a clear understanding of real world football.

As I've said before, some of our fans apparently went to the Al Davis School of Management because they think annual firings are the key to success.

Jerry is far from the worst owner in the league, and the notion that he doesn't care as long as the team is profitable is refuted by anyone who's worked closely with him. It's the 'how' part of his approach that's failed, not the 'why'.

So if you wanna criticize, go ahead. Just try to say something more intelligent in the process than 'Jerry sucks and we'll all be better off if he sells the team or dies'.

His track record speaks for itself. The Panthers are well under .500 since '95, one of the 10 worst records in the league. Not one bit of what has happened with the Panthers throughout the years tells me he knows what he's doing. He doesn't. But like someone else posted, what difference does it make to him if we win or not? We keep losing and yet he gets richer and richer and the team becomes more and more valuable even through the losses.

By the way, pretending that the salary cap and injuries are things that only the Panthers have to deal with is ludicrous.

I think you can judge JR's concern for the average fan based on what a black hole of info BofA is day in and day out. There seems to be very little interaction with the people  (the fan base) who pay his bills, more like contempt which he clearly demonstrated in 2010 with the product he put on the field.

By financial issues make it clear it's cap related as it translates to the product on the field, not profit related as it results to JR's bottom line.

How bad are we since 1995?

All 3 of the teams in our current division are even worse all time then we are. Yet we're still sub .500.

Here is the least painful way to ck all time winning percentages:

My theory is JR lacks the ability or vision to adapt to the ways that the NFL is changing. Fantasy football is big business now and whether anyone wants to admit it or not, it is influencing the way the game is played. Offenses are becoming bigger and faster, and rules are changing to benefit offense. Jerry appears to lack the desire or maybe the ability to change. He's set in his ways. He hires guys who lack that ability as well. He runs this like a business, and he makes a lot of money doing it. But sometimes you need someone who can run certain things better than you. It really is time for him give up some control and let someone else bring the drive and passion this franchise desperately needs, and with the vision to understand how the game is changing and how to adapt to it.
