Jerry Richardson

Sell the team to a competent owner. I think it's no coincidence that the team's failures really started in earnest as soon as he had his major surgery.

Any way you look at it, Jerry Richardson has failed as an owner. He's been the one constant since 1995. No back-to-back winning seasons in 20 years? No playoff wins at all in 10 years? The NFL has passed him by. He still thinks it's the era of Johnny Unitas.

And it's easy to quote 5 playoff runs in 14 seasons but it's hard to face the fact we play in a competitive division and injuries ruined some great teams in the Fox era. We went into the 2003-2008 seasons with playoff rosters but injuries would mount and we couldn't cope. Imagine what Steve could have done healthy in 2004, knowing what he did in 2005 coming off injury.

If you Swapped us with the Patriots we probably could have won more divisions because the Bill and Dolphins have been dumpster fires since Kelly and Marino. But we play in the NFC South and we have as many division crowns as any other team.

what the fug is competitive about this division right now? this is one of the worst divisions in football right now and we still blew it.

I have heard a lot of you blaming the Panthers problems on JR.

So a serious question.  What can JR do to make the Panthers a better organisation ie - win more games - become what the Steelers used to be ?  And please don't give me the usual lame brained answers like removing the NFL shield from the middle of the field.

DON'T be like the Steelers. Change the organization's philosophy of running conservative, smash mouth, time-controlled football. Stop being family-friendly at games. Stop having a PRAYER at the game. Sign players who are superstars ... but have some issues off the field. No more vet player loyalty. Put your money in the O-line. Stop giving huge contracts to players who had a few decent seasons and one massive one (CJ).

We don't need a new owner, we need better fans that have a little respect and basic loyalty to the man that moved mountains to bring a franchise to Charlotte. If it wasn't for Richardson, we'd still be watching Redskins games every Sunday complaining about Dan Snyder.

Ok. Let's pretend he owns this team another ten years and not ONE is a winning season. You still going to give him a bye JUST because he brought the team here? Yes, THANK YOU, JR, for bringing the NFL to the Carolinas. Now, win. You don't get a lifelong bye just because you brought a ray of light to a sad area of the country. Once you own something, you must produce, or it's lights out.

Step One: Don't listen to any suggestions made by fans who've never so much as run a successful lemonade stand.

Hitler was a success too you know. NEAT, he makes money hand over fist. So does Apple and Microsoft and people complain about those products all the time. Again, once you own something, you must produce. Luckily for him, he's making money without producing.

Nothing. He didn't even chose our last general manager. Placing the blame on him is stupid. Just let him live out his years in Carolina in peace... without him we wouldn't even have a team.

this is the problem. fan base is too accepting of mediocrity. Jerry Richardson is an awful owner, absolutely awful. i was saying this last year as well when we were 12-4.

I am posting this again because I truly believe this. Jerry Richardson is an absolutely awful owner. The panthers could win the next five Super Bowls and I would say they won in spite of him. The fact that he has the nfl shield on the 50 yard line tells you everything you need to know about him. All I hear is how he is so respected around the league by other owners. The reason for that is because they are able to focus on their teams while good ole Jerry will do everything that benefits the NFL for them. Remember this is the same guy explaining pie charts to Super Bowl winners Drew Brees and Peyton Manning. The same guy who teamed up with Jets owner Woody Johnson to keep the ref lockout going. You never want to be teamed up with Woody Johnson in anything. It took real owners like Rooney, Mara, and Kraft to step up and put an end to the ref lockout.

Jerry Richardson pretty much started PSLs which I think should be criminal. I understand many teams do it now but I think they are the worst things to happen to sports. It is funny how all of you who bought PSLs are pretty much responsible for the stadium being built, but this awful owner continues to put the NFL first over you. You guys are responsible for building this stadium but he still had the nerve to threaten the city that the franchise will be moved if they don't fund his stadium. The new Giant stadium used very little city money and the Madison Square Garden renovations were 100 percent paid by owner Dolan. You never heard any of them threatening the city.

It is also embarrassing how he handled the Greg Hardy situation. He was perfectly fine to play week 1 but once he heard the media outrage he faked cried and now Hardy will never play for the panthers again. The product on the field sucks and they deserve what they are getting. The 49ers stood by Ray McDonald and didn't care less about media pressure . They can claim all they want it was ron Riveras decision but we all know it was the big cat. His fake tears make me sick as everyone with a brain could see right through this clown.

What he did to John Fox his last season here was a joke. I hope Fox can win a Super Bowl with denver because he deserves it after our awesome owner sided up with the NFL and gave john fox and embarrassing roster. The strength of our team back in 2003 was our d line. He ran out both Julius peppers and kris jenkins . I understand that he takes care of his players and does awesome stuff for greg Olsen, but shouldn't all billionaire owners do that? The New York Rangers were in the playoffs this past year and one of their star players mother died. He got him a private jet flew him to montreal and had the whole team there that next weekend. That was a great thing he did but there is probably no owner who gets more crap than James Dolan. So why does JR get excused because he is a nice guy?

It really is a shame that no one in the media will ever challenge him. It is a shame that a majority of the fans are fooled by him and will forever give him a pass for bringing a team to the Carolina's. I have news for you, if it wasn't him eventually someone else would have. This thread is completly correct. The issues start at the top. Jerry Richardson always has been and always will be the problem with this team. We will never win anything with such a pathetic excuse of an owner. You guys built this stadium but will always come second to the shield.

LOL

Yeah that's it. If only we had better FANS, we would be a playoff team this year and every year. It's the FANS' fault!

Your profession eventually passes you by as you age. By this logic, Jake Delhomme or hell even Steve Beuerlein should still be our quarterback. Sure, they may be completely incompetent now if they were to play quarterback, but they were awesome at one point and did so much with this team! Where's our respect and loyalty??

The lamest possible post on an online message board. Hey, I've never been president, guess I shouldn't go criticizing Obama or Bush right? Hey Lions fans of a few years ago, you've never been GM before, so where do you get off criticizing Matt Millen? I've never made a movie, so maybe I should shut the hell up when I think Transformers 9 is a pile of dogshit?

Is winning the division the only route to the playoffs? They do still have wildcards don't they?

Are the Panthers the only team that's ever had to deal with injuries over the past 20 years?
