Jerry Richardson

Richardson also acknowledged he considered letting Fox go a year ago but let him coach the final year of his contract because cutting him loose would have cost $11.4 million in salary due to his entire staff.

This above anything else, even his loyalty to the league, is what makes Richardson a poor owner, IMHO.  He then kept Hurney after Fox's contract was over, and later forced his new GM to keep his current coach (Rivera) for presumably the same reasons.

Sports fans always think they know better how to coach, run a team, choose a coach, draw up plays, whatever ....

Hey, I'm disappointed in this season, too, but we are not the first or only team to have such difficulties, and we won't be the last. This is a bad time for us, but we've had good times and will have more in the future.

Great owner...nah, but not the worst, or close to it either.

He will hang onto RR for a bit too long, he hung onto Hurney for far too long, but with the hiring of DG, I finally have some peace as a Panthers fan.

Hopefully the days of trading up for Armanti, and Brown are far behind us....the days of 1st round RB's and then overpaying the one position in the NFL you don't have to pay for.....extending guys like Godfrey...

As soon as we are cleaned up a bit, and I think it's at least 1 more season, I will feel pretty good about the future here.

We have had a winning season less than 25% of the time. I'd say the bad outweigh the good.

Lockout

Dead Season

Lame Duck Coach

The pie chart

Never heard of Harbaugh

Sit on my lap Morgan

Rivera

Hardy tears

Don't forget

shoving a leadership roll down Peppers throat

Taxes to improve stadium

Andrew Luck staying in college...for reasons

one of the biggest factors in the ref lockout, which lead to those horrible replacement refs

kept Hurney forever, years after it was obvious he was terrible

actually, just hiring a sports writer as GM to begin with was fuging retarded

sleeps through games, no reaction whether we win or lose

pussy ass stadium atmosphere, doesn't want people standing or getting loud, but hey all you opposing fans are more than welcome as long as you spend lots of money

and I'm sure there's other crap I'm forgetting as well

JR is one of the worst owners in the league, I don't understand why so many people can't see this. "but but he brought football to the Carolinas!" yeah taxpayers and PSL owners footed more of the bill than he did, even if he's the one banking all the profits.

Thank you. This is the most accurate thing I've read on these boards. The whole he brought football to the Carolina's is getting old. If he didn't someone else would have. Charlotte was and is a growing market. They would have eventually gotten a team. Also a news flash, 31 other owners brought teams to a city and they aren't all immune to criticism. The way he brought the team to Charlotte is criminal in my opinion anyway. PSL's are criminal. Someone explain to me how if you purchased that seat how come you don't automatically get tickets for all events at BOA. Why don't you have the right to make money off your seats for other events. Makes no sense.

Again your PSL money built the stadium and brought the team to the Carolina's and Jerry could care less as long as Roger is happy. If Jerry loves the Carolina's so much how comes he has threatened the city if they don't put money into the stadium he can't guarantee they don't leave the Carolina's. Cannot wait for the days of a new owner and a nice huge carolina panthers logo at the 50 yard line.

What exactly has he done? 12-4 was pretty much a combo of Hurney and Gettleman with Ron finally coaching like he knew what he was doing. All he's done is basically sabatoge Cam to save a penny.

Yep - he's sabatoging the career of his own quarterback. That makes tons of sense. And he has to "save a penny" because he's in salary cap hell ... because of Hurney.

    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
    • The lack of production is especially surprising given how much effort the team put into coaxing the best from him.  In just six short years he’s had the opportunity to work with 3 different GMs, 7 different head coaches and 10 different starting quarterbacks.  There’s literally no excuse to be made that one of those combos didn’t work.  It might be time to look withIAN.
    • I would say maybe 8 in a tier by themselves and all but 2 where picked in the top of the first allen pat m stroud burrow jackson hurts (maybe) Herbert Stafford
