Jerry Richardson

I have heard a lot of you blaming the Panthers problems on JR.

So a serious question.  What can JR do to make the Panthers a better organisation ie - win more games - become what the Steelers used to be ?  And please don't give me the usual lame brained answers like removing the NFL shield from the middle of the field.

All starts at the top.  He has to hire the right people to run the organization.  That's his job.  I don't think he's responsible for this current team yet...but very close.

Sell the team to a competent owner. I think it's no coincidence that the team's failures really started in earnest as soon as he had his major surgery.

Any way you look at it, Jerry Richardson has failed as an owner. He's been the one constant since 1995. No back-to-back winning seasons in 20 years? No playoff wins at all in 10 years? The NFL has passed him by. He still thinks it's the era of Johnny Unitas.

Step down.

He needs to realize the NFL is past the Steelers dynasty. He needs to realize the league isn't more important that the Panthers. If he can't realize these things, he doesn't need to be in direct control of the team.

Well he can start by communicating with Gettleman and reinvestigating our coaching situation.  Secondly he could get off Goodell and the NFL's dick and stick up for his own team instead of the league.  This includes trivial things like the shield to more impactful things like the lockout stubbornness to standing up for players.

We have had only 5 winning seasons to 14 losing seasons. Are you f*cking kidding me? That starts at the top. He wants his GM to always hire a defensive minded coach even if he isn't qualififed. The NFL has past him by and leaving his ass behind.

We don't need a new owner, we need better fans that have a little respect and basic loyalty to the man that moved mountains to bring a franchise to Charlotte. If it wasn't for Richardson, we'd still be watching Redskins games every Sunday complaining about Dan Snyder.

He is way too slow on making the appropriate changes, and when he makes changes he doesn't get the best guys. Just somebody who isn't going to make waves and demand a lot of money. He doesn't seem to be as concerned about winning as he is being a nice family organization.

I definitely agree on the defensive minded coaches that we always hire and have no successful track record as an NFL head coach.

    • yeah. winter backpacking trips were the most miserable and amazing experiences. same with the coldest and snowiest hunting  experiences. i love being in it. makes for incredible memories. the worse it was, the more i ended up loving it. made the greatest memories.  i just want to get out of it afterwards.
    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
