Doubt inside BofA Cam is the future?

On the huddle they are not.

Cam is the reason when we win....and everyone but Cam is the reason when we lose.

There is a group of people who are in the Cam can do no wrong group, and another group who are in the Cam can't do anything right.  I think most of us are somewhere in the middle.

For myself, I think Cam is a good qb.  I don't think he will ever be an elite qb along the lines of a Brady or Peyton Manning, although I hope I am wrong.  But I do think he could be good enough to win the big game if surrounded by the right weapons, ala Eli manning. But I think its going to take a few years to get the right combination of players, especially with the salary cap issues we face.

Agree, I think Cam is capable of everything we'd need to win a Super Bowl.

I mean the Bears tried to win a Super Bowl with Rex Freaking Grossman behind center and he sucked so bad Peyton Manning could even beat him in a big game.

Cam can take us to the Promised Land, hopefully it won't take us a few years though.  ;)

Like it or not. Cam Newton is the best QB this team could have for the next several years. Is he perfect? No. Should he be benched for Derek Anderson (like the dude who sat next to me at the Thursday Night game was yelling the whole time)? No.

We simply don't have enough talent on the offensive side of the ball. You could put any QB in the league under center for the Panthers and they would look bad as well. How many of our offensive players would be starting on any playoff caliber team? Olsen, KB, Cam, maybe Khalil, maybe Stewart (when healthy). That's pretty much it...in my opinion.

Cam has played poorly the last several weeks, I agree, but the talent around the QB matters. A very average QB in Jake Delhomme nearly won us a Super Bowl because that 2003 team was stacked on defense and he had plenty of talent on offense. Steve Smith, Moose, Stephen Davis, and most importantly an O-Line that could run block and gave Jake all day to throw.

If Cam had anywhere close to that kind of talent around him, we would be a very very hard team to beat.

If the Front Office were to let Cam walk after next year. That would be a tremendous mistake and would most certainly set the team back several more years...

If you don't like Cam Newton. That sounds like a personal problem. Cam has proven that he is capable of playing the position at a high level in this league and until someone better is on the roster he should be our QB.

Here's the thing about the blind Cam homers. Panthers fans want to win SO bad because the team is SO bad and always has been. We've never had an elite, superstar QB play here. Ever. So along comes Cam and some fans became so giddy that they decided to let everything else slide because for once we had a chance to have a stud QB. You could almost see it happen when Matt Moore had those two great games years ago. People all the sudden started thinking that kid was the next coming of Aaron Rodgers and would laugh at anyone who said Moore wasn't the answer. Well, he wasn't.

Cam is, however, the answer. He's good enough to win a Super Bowl. He isn't, however, elite yet. But fans are so dedicated to the fact that we have a great QB foronce that he can do no wrong in their eyes. They gloss over most all his mistakes. The most egregious offenders? Usually people with a Cam photo as an avatar or a Cam member name. Like this ...

Cam throws a pick ... WR's fault with his route or the O-Line's fault.

Cam gets sacked after holding the ball too long ... O-Line's fault or WR's fault.

Drive falls flat ... Shula's fault.

Cam's passes sail too high or have no placement ... ignored.

Look, I'm behind Cam. He's our guy. But there is a disconnect right now with the entire offense and Cam is indeed part of that. His bad playing is not the result of it. So my advice to anyone reading this is to ignore the Cam Homers. Also, ignore the Cam Trolls. The more you respond to these guys the more inane these threads get. Instead, talk with level-headed posters who know Cam has talent but also know Cam has played bad before and that his bad playing was partly due to him and him alone.

This is pretty much how I feel. I am somewhat concerned about his up coming contract. If Cam had more weapons and a better line I think he becomes MVP potential. But we can't just give him anything his agent wants. It will cost plenty to keep good talent around him. I hope he takes that in consideration when his contract is negotiated. Making him the highest paid player in the NFL will limit the amount of talent we can surround him with (at least with the coaching talent or lack of it the Panthers will probably have)
