Doubt inside BofA Cam is the future?

Like it or not the Panthers are hitched to Cam Newton for some time. It would be a mistake to ditch him while looking for a long term QB. It would be a lesser mistake to sign him long term to a contract.

Sign him to a big deal, keep an eye open for BPA and if a QB is there - anywhere - take him. This is a team that drafted a QB in the first round two years in a row. It got them this far.

Let's give Cam weapons and a Oline like most teams do with there young QB. Then make a judgement.

Jake was a good QB and a great Game Manager but wasn't putting up the numbers a Franchise QB does.

Plus Jake needed 1,000 yard RB to have a good offense.

Comp % rate around the same as well.

But again even with the injuries Ryan had better weapons then Cam.

Ryan had 67% compared to 60% for Cam. That's a big difference. Ryan had a rating of 89.6 and Cam had 88.8. I mean Ryan had a worse oline. He only had White and TG. That's it. Cam had Smith, LaFell and Olsen. He did better with a worse oline. I don't know how u can argue he had better weapons.

Answer to the "what has Cam done?" crowd.

He is 25 years old and came to a 2-14 team entering into cap hell.

The fug did you expect? A bunch of playoffs and Super Bowl runs?

Colts weren't even that bad off when they got #1 pick, they just had a terrible QB when Manning went down. They also had a bunch of cap space cleared.

Seahawks had been building for years and had a ton of cap space.

San FranSisco was same deal. Been building roster for years.

We had Fred Jackson, arguably one of the most undervalued backs in the league who has been a top ten back in the league for many years.  Stats may not show it, but I will defend him tooth and nail as being one of the best players in the NFL over the last 5-6 years.  He can block, run, has speed, run routes, and play special teams.  His blocking is no joke.  CJ Spiller is not a bad player to have, his worth is different.  We added Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown to the team this year, too.  Overkill at RB.

 

WR's we traded Steve Johnson away.  We do not have one player at WR who was playing WR for us 3 years ago.  David Nelson and TJ Graham - Jets, Kamar Aiken - Baltimore, SJ13 - SF.  We added Sammy Watkins and Mike Williams.  MWilliams seldom sees time because of up and developing Chris Hogan from Hard Knocks fame.  Has been with the team multiple seasons working his way up.  Easy to say we gambled at this position.

 

At TE we have Chandler, not much but I like him.  Our TE depth is garbage and we would have drafted Ebron had we stayed at 9, according to our GM.

 

Our OL sucks.  We have Glenn at LT who's not having a great year, a down year for our OC Wood who is making up for our poor OG play.  Our RT is 7th rounder Henderson.

 

If we were going to be good it needs to happen now.  We are going to be under the cap by about $40mm next year.  We have to resign Jerry Hughes, Brandon Spikes, and several other players with Cordy Glenn and Marcel Dareus also set to become FA's soon.  CJ Spiller is also on the list to become a FA, should he desire to opt out of his player option.

 

...Conclusion,

We are where Carolina was last year.  We have a lot of talent.  We have worked hard to get this point but may lose a lot of that if we don't keep our deck strong and play the cards right.  We have to come up strong to get a full house - fix our OL up and look to keep building our future.  We just need a good QB or some consistency at the position.

 

All in all, I expected the Bills to finish better then the Panthers, and still do.  This year I saw them struggling but think next year they should be moving back up to easily be a strong competitor and contender in 2016.  The Bills may not be so lucky, this might be there only window this year to make the playoffs.  Otherwise another 3 years sifting thru QB's is going to happen...again.

Cam doesn't Pass as much as Luck nor does he have Lucks weapons. Again we need to see Cam with the same or atleast similar attempts at improving his surrounding cast.

Idzik is not going to to put it on the line for Newton, should he even still be there.  The Jets are not going to remedy this catastrophe in the next 2 years.  They're about to be in cap hell if they don't watch it.

Yeah who made Douglas? Before last season where was Douglas? He was a third WR option like Ginn. He came in due to injury and his QB got him the ball, like Brady is getting LaFell the ball.

 

Please lets not talk about Steven Jackson. Steven Jackson? Deangelo run for 300 more yards than Steven Jackson. Do you watch any other teams apart from panthers?

 

I'll agree with you when we talk about number of attempts. But don't you think that Cam should have a better completion percentage because he throws less? Nope, Ryan completed more passed than Cam.
