Doubt inside BofA Cam is the future?

The love Cam gets on here is quite ridicoulous.. What has he done?! One winning season and a playoff loss.. Not only that but he just isnt that great, hes average at best, not a world beater that deserves hundred million. If we sign Cam to a big contract we wont have money to fix our real issues.

He has bad footwork, questionable decision making skills and a terrible deep ball, not to mention his refusal to throw ball aways and take is out of FG range.

I would be perfectly fine letting Cam walk, fix the O line and get more respectable WR and just roll with DA behind a upgraded O line and upgrade WR corps and who knows, if Hardy is found not guilty we can just re sign him and make our D elite again.

I love how you are willing to roll with DA but no other NFL Organizations is.........

So what's they say about your opinion. ..... . ...

Why not wait until the 7th round and draft a QB. Then we can pick up HoF players in the first 6 rounds, you know since finding a good QB is so easy...

Setting us back years... WTF? We have not won a PO game in over 10 years. We are pathetic and the only thing coming close to giving this sorry ass franchise a spark is Cam Newton. NEVER in our entire lifetime did we have a QB that could fire up the area, the fans, media etc. And you want to draft a bum in the 2nd round?

It took 20 years of coming close to finding a franchise QB and now you would throw him out. Why no fuging try to invest in your QB? Give him an O-line, some weapons, a NFL coach and a great OC. Go all in now since we are so close and take a chance on Cam. This is such a gutless franchise, frankly we do not deserve success .

First three years

QB A

13329 yds ( 277 pr game )

84 TD ( 1.75 pr game )

Completion % 60

QB B

13128 yds ( 285 pr game )

71 TD (1.5 pr game )

Completion 62 %

One of these QBs is one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game, the other is the QB you want to throw away and draft a 2nd round QB.

STOP!!

Drinking beer and watching Stanford/ Oregon and won't waste time preaching to the 'Huggers, but trying to compare QB stats from the late 1990's to today is silly.

Defensive backs could actually play defense back then. The spread offense had not been invented. It was a completely different NFL.

Peyton Manning led the entire NFL with 4413 yards and 33 touchdowns in his 3rd season in the league back in 2000.  Last year he led the league with 5477 yards and 55 touchdowns. That's how much the league has changed.

The only way to judge players statistically is in comparison with their contemporaries. You can't judge John Elway or Roger Staubach or Joe Namath based on their statistics relative to today's players.

If Cam Newton had ever led the league in any meaningful passing stat, you might have a point. But he hasn't. As a matter of fact, he hasn't even been close. # 10 in passing yardage his rookie season in Chud's system has been his greatest accomplishment.

He hasn't been a terrible passer, but he has not been great and has not shown real meaningful improvement.

Meanwhile, he has put up 3 stinkers in a row and is failing the eye test with flying colors. Not just in play, but in demeanor as well. If you don't think owners and GM's see the way Cam handles himself when things are going poorly, you are mistaken.

I did not think this was possible going into the season, but if Newton continues to play as poorly as he has the last three weeks, he may find himself on the bench. And it might be the best thing for him long term. He is playing his way out of elite money.

Shoot, the Chargers seem to be balking at paying Rivers $20 million, and there is just no comparison between the play of the two this season.

Let's break down the situation. ..

Cam Bad Oline and 2 above average weapons. Then Mike Shula at OC.....

RYan Bad Oline but has Julio jones, Roddy White, Harry Douglas, Devin Hester and Steve Jackson. He also had the Goat at TE last year. Bad Oline but a Bevy of weapons and his numbers this year aren't great.

Cutler Bad Oline but more weapons then the US military. I'd take Trestman over Shula any day.

So by comparison at least the other guys with bad O lines have weapons out of the yeng-yang.

Last season, Ryan only had a banged up Roddy White and a third WR option in Harry Douglas. He also had Tony G. Last season, Cam had Smith, LaFell, Olsen and speedster Ginn last season with a better oline but what happened? Ryan still had better numbers. This year, he has had only Julio consistently, the rest have been in and out with injuries but again, better numbers than Cam.

Yeah Cutler has weapons but due to bad play do you know where his "weapons" are ranked? This what I have been trying to say. We can cry weapons all you want but when the QB is not executing, you will hear things like oline or he does not have weapons.

The notion that Cam can't read defenses is stupid. He can read defenses very well. His only problem the last three games I think have been fundamentals and decision making. I believe and I hope he will use the semi-bye to improve himself. We can win with Cam, he needs to be more consistent and continue to work on his delivery, one big reason our WR are missing YAC.

It's funny how I have been trained to look at who the poster is and then make a quick decision not to read their post, because it's a broken record. Blah blah blah look at this stat, blah blah blah this Qb is better blah blah cam sucks blah blah blah you guys are a bunch of Cam nut huggers. . Glad you guys are consistent so that I can get thru a thread a lot faster

Ryan pass for more yards but he didn't have better numbers then Cam..

Check your stats on that quick.

Of course as long as Rivera is at the helm, Cam is done in my opinion. There's no way Cam develops under Rivera. For that reason, and unless we can get Cam an offensive guru to work with in the off-season, we should trade him while he can be traded for a high price.

I actually agree with you on this point. It's either Cam or Rivera. Which guy do you want Panthers? Which one puts butts in the seats and makes the Panthers more relevant nationally than they have ever been?

Wasn't Jake Delhomme a franchise QB? I keep hearing Cam is our first. Is Cam a physical freak compared to Cam? Of course. But Jake took us to a Super Bowl. Jake had a team around him and if getting rid of Cam in order to build a team is what it takes then I'm all for it. Cam can't and won't do it alone.

He beat him in all categories, the only thing was Cam had less INT, at 13 and Ryan had 17.

Cam had more TD'S less To. (Most important number)

Qb rating was even.

Comp % rate around the same as well.

But again even with the injuries Ryan had better weapons then Cam.

Jake was a good QB and a great Game Manager but wasn't putting up the numbers a Franchise QB does.

Plus Jake needed 1,000 yard RB to have a good offense.

Like it or not the Panthers are hitched to Cam Newton for some time.  It would be a mistake to ditch him while looking for a long term QB.  It would be a lesser mistake to sign him long term to a contract.

Sign him to a big deal, keep an eye open for BPA and if a QB is there - anywhere - take him.  This is a team that drafted a QB in the first round two years in a row.  It got them this far.
