Doubt inside BofA Cam is the future?

Kevin Greene

I don't know what to say other than I am tired of how poorly this organization is run. I have been a fan since the 2nd season. If they screw cam over and our fan base by getting rid of our best player, then I am likely done. This organization has become a joke and like I did with the rams when they screwed me over and moved to St Louis, I switched allegiance to the Panthers, I will switch allegiance to another team, likely wherever the best Qb in Panthers history lands. Flame away. I have hung in there for nearly 20 years and witnessed 1 win and 2 win seasons and never left.

How dare I say Cam doesn't deserve to have a bust yet.

Its hilarious the more you argue with these guys who like to pretend they just want to be "fair and honest about Cam", the more their facade falls revealing all that they're really about.

When they start throwing out the ridiculous strawmen, you know them for what they really are.

I have no problem saying Cam is playing bad but now people are making it out like he has always been bad. Or questioning his worth to this team now is asinine.

Yeah, a guy a few posts back said that "Cam has a good game, then he has a few bad games".

Do people really think Cam has had more bad games than good games as the QB of the Carolina Panthers?  Is that what they've convinced themselves?

I thought Rivera was getting it with the Riverboat thing. You gamble with Cam, you win with Cam on those 4th and 1's. Bengals game proved he is scared and is holding his best players back.

Mike Shula did very well last year with what he had and i loved the progress he made with Cam's decision making. But when talent is taken away he has no idea how to adjust to put the most talented players on the team in the best positions to succeed.

Cam is most definitely a part to blame in the fiasco of thursday night. but damn he didn't stand a chance when he was off because he has to be perfect for us to have a chance. That is the problem. And even goddamn idiot commentators were saying we expect WAYYYY too much out of this kid. Then you have these dumbass fans who start with the "cam is not the answer" and i just can't believe what is happening on this team right now. We are gonna ruin this guy if we are not careful.

Yep were trying our best to give him David Carr syndrome. Smh

I feel your pain as an Ex Ram fan, I followed Kevin Greene here and never looked back.

I refuse to believe at this point Cam is not the future however.

Under Chud Cam had a Pro Bowl level LT, not just a better OC than he does now.

Cam's problems are compounded right now.

And yet he still took a ton of sacks, hits, and pressures.

The Oline DOES have a lot to do with Cam's issues, but Cam also needs to learn how to get rid of the ball quicker and not run backwards into sacks.

Some quotes from Rivera on Cam after Thursday night:

"They continue to work on his foot work. Keeping his left shoulder down, staying over his front foot, bending that knee as he delivers the ball. It's all part of his fundamentals and it's just something that he's just got to continue to push himself through."

These are extremely unusual remarks to be making about a quarterback who has 55 career NFL starts. And it's really just the tip of the iceberg with Newton. Cam is still being coached-up on the most basic elements of his game. The problem is that at his age, it is almost unheard of to get rid of flaws like these because they have become ingrained. The aspects of his game that should be getting him to the next level aren't being addressed, because he lacks the fundamentals that can be built on to take him to the next level...and he is in fact regressing.

Like it or not, Newton has been making the same fundamental mistakes for the better part of 3 1/2 years. Sometimes he can get away with it. Sometimes he gets exposed. When he doesn't have a perfect pocket, he tends to get exposed.

Newton should have more or less perfected a consistent delivery by midway through his second season.

Some guys can get away with less than text book mechanics, simply because their flawed mechanics still allow them to deliver the ball consistently. (see Phillip Rivers).

With Newton, when his base is off, there is no telling where the ball will end up.

Couple days ago Zod posted up pointing out you know if a pass is complete simply by looking at Cam's feet on delivery.

And he's right.

But I believe the basic argument was that Cam was not to blame because he is often under pressure. This is the NFL. Everyone is under pressure to some degree. The reality is that Cam Newton is not even close to being the most pressured QB in the NFL and yet you can see the pressure is really getting to him. Cam Newton looks like a rattled quarterback.

I have been critical of Newton since midway through his second season. My basic argument has been that Newton is an average passer with good mobility. At this point, he is no longer even an average passer..

Cam Newton ranks 31st in the NFL in completion percentage. The only players who are worse are Brian Hoyer and Geno Smith.

Trying to lay those numbers totally on the offensive line and Shula and Rivera and the receivers is not holding water with anyone who doesn't have gonads in their mouth.

This isn't so much about DA himself, moreso the skills he brings to the table. DA's skill set is totally on throwing the ball. That's it. With Cam it's the mindset of trying to make a play, whether it be through the air or with his legs.

What skills???

The same ones that haven't netted him a starting job since.. ..????

And not for a lack of trying.

Every off-season he goes in FA and every off-season he comes back to be Cam's backup.
