Rivera: "Hardy should be in due to postponed trail"

Recommended Posts

The argument against that is the bed or couch covered in "automatic looking" weapons. The penalty is much worse if firearms are involved. Again there has been no evidence of the bed/couch full of guns but the media won't  care about that.  Bob Costas is loading his social conscience cannon as we speak.

I don't understand that angle. Are they saying that they were illegal weapons?

The NFL threw together this DV policy in like a day because of media pressure. I am not a lawyer, but I think a firearm, legal or illegal, loaded or not, is considered a higher degree penalty.

I'd be willing to bet that plenty of NFL players own firearms. In fact, D-Wills is posting hunting pictures up all the time. I do, however, agree that a futon may not be the best place to store them.

This is so stupid, why the hell is it so hard for Goodell to say, "Greg Hardy re-instated post 6 game ban, if found guilty, will be fined money made during exemption."

OVER, problem SOLVED.

Issue is that then sets his new policy. I don't think he wants to touch that until the offseason

Also courts don't find anyone innocent.

96% of all criminal cases are found guilty if the case is resolved in any method other than jury trial.

Courts force you to gamble with your freedom with plea bargains and make it extremely expensive and unreasonably time consuming to actually get a jury trial.

If I were a high-profile athlete or celebrity I'd certainly want a firearm in my home.

Yup, I watched a documentary about public defenders and they all agree the system is designed to punish you for claiming innocence. Maybe it wasn't intended to work that way, but that's the reality of it.

In NC, most DV cases never get beyond the bench trial because the defendants can't afford to put their life on hold and pay a lawyer while they wait for a jury trial so they plead no contest to get it over with.
