Stephen Hill needs to be in, or be out. Needs to belie the second overhaul, one way or another.

So the answer to our receiving corp that drops too many balls is to bring up a faster receiver who drops too many balls.

At least he would add speed to go along with his drops. Now we just have random slow guy who has drops.

Heres my feeling on the situation, Hill's biggest problem is his hands, and it's exactly why I've advocated for him to remain on the practice squad.  After last week though, there were a ton of drops, looked like Lafell was running every receiving route.  The REASON Avant and Cotch are on the team is because they are sure handed, well if they don't get their poo together, then IMO, one or both are expendable in favor of a young fast guy with infinitely more upside.

I think the most sensible player to cut is Bersin. Avant and Cotchery payed pretty well. The majority of drops are coming from Kelvin and we aren't cutting him.

There's no valid reason to bring him on the active roster. All you're doing is spouting about how you want to see change. it's the grass is always greener mentality. If he were good enough, he'd be on the active roster. You're projecting a lot of emotion and conjecture onto Stephen Hill just because you want a change to happen, any change at all, whether that be positive or negative. If it's positive you'll say I told you so, if it's negative you'll complain about it anyway.

He's obviously not good enough to be on the active roster right now. Whether that changes is yet to be seen, but demanding that he either be called up or cut right NOW doesn't make a lick of damn sense. Just because others have "clicked" by now doesn't mean he won't. It also could mean he never will. You say you trust Ptoehl's evaluation over mine, and I'm sure the coaches do too. If he were good enough he'd be on the roster. If he were too shitty, he wouldn't have a job.

So my answer to this thread is just: No.

Whatever.  Hill, an NFL veteran, has been on our practice squad for just about two months, playing behind JAGS.  Don't tell me that he just needs more time to learn how to catch. Sure I want change. Any Panthers fan would be a fool not to want change, but unlike debating whether Cam is the franchise QB, or whether one back-up tackle is better than the rest, signing Hill can be something that we can do now with perhaps great reward, or at the very least prepare him for the future

Lastly, I don't give a rat's ass about saying "I told you so" in general, or in regards to Stephen Hill. If i wanted to do that then I would have started countless Smitty threads by now. If Hill works out I'll be as happy as the next person (except for maybe you), but I am not going to dismiss him out of hand like your elementary response.

Joe Webb is just wasting roster space right now. If Cam were to go down I don't think it would matter much at that point anyway.

Hill needs to be activated. But good luck convincing Ron that he needs to bench one of the fossils he's got out there in Cotchery and Avant

The only thing Avant and Cotchery have over Hill were their hands. After last night it's painfully obviously they don't got those anymore. So why not bring in hill?

All I know is we played Godfrey for 7 weeks of the worst football any of us have ever seen which totally ruined the entire defense. Then we cut him and put in a new guy and the D is suddenly much better. Stuff like that tells me the best players aren't always getting on the field so why not give this guy a shot?

My only qualm with that would be youth.  Avant had 2 drops on 1 drive, Cotch had the drop down the field that killed a drive, Bersin dropped a pass that ended up being intercepted, so I wouldn't really say they played well, they've just played better thusfar this season.  The big question is, if we are considering our season almost lost at this point, when do we make the official youth movement, aka, get Brown/Bersin/Hill more time at receiver, consider going with Norwell and Foucault when both the starters return, and on defense, make sure Boston/Norman/White all spend the rest of the season starting.  We may not make the playoffs, but honestly, I doubt we are anyway, so you might as well move toward the future.
