Sorry to burst your bubble, but KB may not be a WR1

top dawg

Recommended Posts

KB was forced into the role of a number 1 WR since day 1. He has zero help out there with him, he sees the opposing teams best corner each week (fwiw Keenan Lewis is very underrated). If you watched KB in college drops aren't something new with him. So to have the expectation of him coming here and catching everything is unrealistic. Unrealistic expectations seems to be a theme with this team btw.

Like I said earlier this week only Sammy Watkins and Allen Robinson see other teams #1 corners. Watkins was in a class of his own during the draft and everyone knew. I still can't get over us passing on Allen Robinson. Him and KB could've shared the load instead of putting it all on KB's shoulders.

I agree and said the same thing... he is a true #2 but a default #1... i said lafell was a default #2 and a true #4... they laughed... NEW England gets it though.

not saying Benji is bad, but we still need to improve at wr.

#1?

#2 Benji

#3 Cot (maybe but can easily be replaced)

#4 not on the roster

avant is a lafell with better hands but no speed or blocking... that's another easy replacement. it all means nothing if we don't go get quality players.

Starting to look that way. Slow, has the dropsies, unreliable, can't block, hasn't broken a tackle one time this season. Super overrated, don't forget at least 2 of his touchdowns were in garbage time of games.

I wouldn't say he is overrated, just that perhaps people are expecting way too much.  From the responses in this thread, some obviously can't handle any negatives when it comes to Benjamin (and I wasn't even really being negative).

Hate to bring it up but ill be that asshole who does it, it would be a lot easier for him if he wasn't relied on so heavily...........maybe if smith was here he could relieve some of the pressure, hell someone opposite making plays would help a lot, Olsen has either been taken out of the game by opposing defenses or just not used.

bottom line it would have benefit KB playing in the number 2 position for a year as he adjusted to the league, he is still doing a hell of a job being the only wr worth a damn, out playing 10 year vets

Still think it's waaaaaayyyyyy too early to judge that.

Perhaps. But that's why I used the word "may".

One thing about it though: in all my years of watching football, I have never known a WR with questionable hands coming into the league suddenly develop hands just because he spent more time in the league.  Hands are hands.  I suspect that's why Stephen Hill isn't active.  At least with Hill I have seen him look up field before the ball is in his hands. That's coachable.

Moreover, Benjamin is not going to get faster.

He definitely needs some concentration drills, but Cameron's inaccurate throws don't allow him to shine. You need those catchable with a chance to make a move type of ball here and there which rarely happens with Cam.

Some of it is legitimately on Newton too, but that discussion is already ongoing in a couple of threads.
