Sorry to burst your bubble, but KB may not be a WR1

This has just needed to be said...in a thread of its own.  I am not saying that KB will never develop into a virtual WR1, but at this point he is just not a WR1---and I am not even talking about even in the prototypical sense of the word---he is a WR1-2 hybrid. He is a big WR who is obviously more effective as a possession type WR, and if he doesn't develop more effective route running (which he may), then a big possession guy is all that he is going to be. And I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing (only being bad if G-man doesn't recognize that we need another guy who also has talent to be a WR1).

A WR1 just has to have way more consistency with his hands, and just can't drop passes in the end zone, much less anywhere else.  A WR1 has to be able to take over a game, and so far we have not witnessed Benjamin doing that, and the season is more than half over.  Sure some of it may be play calling, and some of it may be Cam, but Benjamin has had enough lost opportunities to warrant serious concern as to whether he can carry the offense on his back when necessary.

Now I am not saying that Benjamin won't develop better route running. Chances are he will. But his hands are not WR1 material right now, and that worries me (especially if G-man thinks that KB is the answer as our WR1 for the future).  But perhaps Benjamin has had too much pressure placed upon those big shoulders his rookie year.  I look forward to the time when he can get some help in the form of another potential WR1 or 1-2 hybrid, so that he doesn't have to worry about being double (and sometimes effectively triple) teamed as much so that his wing span can be more efficiently utilized.  All of our possession receivers are just not gonna cut it.

Irregardless, KB is a valuable piece to our puzzle and was a step in the right direction on draft day.  We desperately needed to draft him.  He will get better.  His ceiling remains to be determined.  I think that this is his floor, which is still pretty damn good. So where will be drafting this year?  Top 15.  What do we take another WR or OL.  I go OL all the way as long as the right dude is there.  Lets not force a square peg into a round hole.

    • The Entitlement Paradox: When Winning Isn't Enough for Panther fans.    Just the other season(s) we were praying for wins by any means. Brought in every run of the mill QB you could think of.  We know all sides of the ball was bad like egregious bad. However some how we have won 5 games and TOXIC ENTITLEMENT has emerged.    We are a team that has to take wins by anymeans nothing has changed. Keep pounding means it aint gonna be perfect!!    Some panther fans have now developed a toxic entitlement where even victories feel insufficient, demanding flawless performance, or perfection, which stems from historical success in which we dont have any lol. This mindset poisons communities by fostering relentless criticism, harassment, and ingratitude that undermine team morale and alienate casual supporters. For the new Carolina Panthers, this could manifest as fans booing Bryce Young after gritty wins for low passing yards despite low turnovers, pressuring tepper into premature changes mid-rebuild, or driving away talent through online abuse!! eroding the positive momentum from their recent 4-game streak has brought us. Trust and believe the players do see your toxicity.    Anyways here are some positive stats.      Most Accurate QB on... 20+ Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (79.2%) 2. Sam Darnold (79.2%) 3. Bryce Young (75.0%) 10-19 Yard Throws 1. Jaxson Dart (88.0%) 2. Jayden Daniels (82.9%) 3. Drake Maye (80.7%) 0-9 Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (92.9%) 2. Spencer Rattler (92.6%) 3. Bryce Young (91.7%) @FantasyPtsData
    • Proper stud that would look even better if they could upgrade Scott. And get a resemblance of pressure on the QB
