Gettleman got too confident after last season

Tagging Hardy was the right move at the time. Look how we play without him. Not Gett's fault Hardy went full retard this offseason right after signing the damn contract. It was the best short term move for the long term picture. It didn't tie any money up in the future seasons and it allowed Hardy to play balls out to try and get his payday.

Instead, Hardy went and fuged up. The remaining cap we have needs to be saved for future seasons becuase we are still hurting from Hurney's dumbass spending spree to try and keep the core of a 2-14 team together. Godfrey, Beason, D-Will, Stewart, Johnson, Even Smitty's contracts are still on our books now and for the foreseable future. They are garbage contracts, even Smitty's.

The cap space we have this year will be rolled over to next year to try and sign Cam to a long term deal, as well as use it to sign players at other positions. With the little money we had, we went after guys this offseason. They declined because we couldn't offer them enough for their liking. He didn't sit around with his thumb up his ass, he is doing the best with the hand he was dealt. He even said when he was hired it was going to take a while to get cap healthy but people are just too damn stupid to remember or realize it to begin with.

We have the core of a great team NOW. Cam, Luke, Star, KK, Kalil, Davis. These are all guys that we can and will build around. We will get another stud next year in the draft. Hopefully on the O-line somewhere. This is going to take a while. We over achieved last year. We are under achieving this year. It's frustraiting as hell but there is no ONE person to blame. It is the sum of all things poo this year hitting us at once.

Stop being so daft and one dimensional and look at the big picture. Please.

The story of being a Panthers fan right here. Rationalize the current losing, but the future is bright! The future just never actually gets here. We have the occasional fluke winning season to give us false hope, but ultimately sustained success always eludes us. It's painfully obvious at this point that our issues are organizational. JR is a lot more concerned about the NFL as a whole than he is about the Panthers. He just doesn't seem to have that competitive desire that most other owners have. As long as the NFL as a whole remains successful, JR is happy and feels like he's doing his part.

As far as Hardy goes, it was never the right call to tag him if the intention was a one year rental. What we ended up getting was one game, one sack, and four tackles for $13.1M.

I'm not rationalizing poo, it's blatantly obvious what Gettleman is doing... Hell, the dude even TOLD EVERYONE what he is doing... Why does no one remember this? We are shafted by poo contracts right now. We won't have a consistent winning team until those are gone. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here...

I can't blame Gettleman for playing the "blame Hurney" card. Hell, I would too if I could score myself a couple of years of job security in a sweet gig by doing so. But, the bottom line is that virtually every incoming new GM is facing significant issues. There's a reason why the job was available. Not many have the luxury of inheriting a team with a young franchise QB and the best young LB in the game. Gettleman wasn't holding a great hand this season, but he did misplaced the cards he was dealt.

we have 13 mil going to a player that he set up our whole defense around. We had money, he just didn't do a good job on distributing it. I wanted hardy back too but you can't have 3 all stars surrounded by scrubs and expect it to work

I think DG's implementing the tank.   Sort of like the Bobcats in the Gerald Wallace years.

when/if he starts missing on high draft picks or big money free agents then i'll worry

so far it looks like he's 100% on his early draft picks and he hasn't given out any big contracts.

i'm not going to blame him that an UDFA or scrub vet paid next to nothing doesn't come in and play like an all pro, that's pretty stupid

Foucalt is still learning which American provinces have an NFL team. He shouldnt be on an active roster, much less starting at LT of all spots in a primetime divisional game.

That has nothing to do with money. That's called ineptitude.

I guess some of y'all want Gettleman to operate like Tampa, how every off season they've made big free agent splashes or a first round pick that football pundits love, yet they're in the same situation we are. Maybe worse. I don't know what some of you guys want him to do, especially knowing the salary cap hell situation he inherited from his predecessor.

we were shafted by poo contracts last year too.Just because he makes a pre-emptive strike about how we will suck, that doesn't make us suck any less. That doesn't make things better to know that he knows we suck.
