still hatin on Marvin Williams?

McBob's calling card was that he could move the ball and initiate offense. That's a rare skill nowadays out of the four spot, especially when you couple it with his learning to make threes, albeit sparingly. There's a reason Miami gave him basically a little under what we paid Lance with two extra guaranteed years.

His absence was evident especially in the first half with the lack of ball movement, but credit to Marvin, he did what we needed him to do: Spread the floor, hit some threes. A more one dimensional McBob, but a key factor tonight nonetheless. Hope it continues.

Are u kidding. Lol. If we switch Mcbob for Marvin we lose that game tonight. I agree Mcbob good pass a little bit and move the ball around. But he wasn't that good and couldn't shoot 3's or anything else really all that good. Marvin Williams had a helluva game and was one of the biggest reasons we won. Mcbob will not be missed

McBob was one of the biggest reasons for our success last season. If you watched last season you would have seen that. Basically what Lance does at the 2 is what McBob did at the 4 albeit with much less explosiveness and excitement.

Please do not turn this into a UNC-Duke flame war because that's not what it is and not what it should be. I'm excited that Marvin filled his role quite nicely and hope that continues because we need the spacing he provides desperately.  He and McBob are two completely different players in terms of skill sets, and that's okay.

A one dimensional McBob? Wow....

I'm still trying to figure out what McBob's second dimension was.

He was a good passer on a team that had one of the lowest scoring offenses in the league. I'd rather have someone who isn't afraid to take and hit the big shot when the team is down by 20 and hoping to make a run.

McBob could move the ball and acted as a point forward. Marvin's job is to space the floor and make shots.

I don't see any reason to get defensive.

McBob was much better defensively and learned during his time here to occasionally take a three as the offense allowed.

Marvin and Al are complete sieves on the interior and that as much as anything contributed to the giant deficit. I trust Clifford to get it figured out since we are still behind in terms of preseason because of injuries but that is a concern.

Why can't McBob be an important player, too? Are you that much of a homer?

No one is getting defensive....at least not me. But you're acting like McBob was something more than he was. Last year the offense was basically dump the ball to Al and see what he could do. They certainly weren't fluid last night and still have some chemistry to figure out, but I'll take a scoring stretch 4 all day.

We missed boberts passing last night. But I'm comparing it to the Bobcats at the end of last season. This team still has to build chemistry.

For sure....they definitely didn't look great for almost 3 quarters. I thought they looked pretty weak defensively until the end when they started buckling down. The Bucks were hitting shots, too, so we will need a larger sample size to know for sure. I'm pumped for Saturday.

This week is going to kill me. I'm already exhausted.

How'd Prohibition go?

It was ok - more of a meeting point than a party. I went back afterwards and there were "too many" girls in costumes with Xs on their hands for my liking.

Thanks to Chaos, Baby Andy Reid, and LTC for coming by.

Edit: I was practicing my sarcasm there. Although Chaos and I definitely looked at each other and said "we're old"

He will prove to be one of the greatest free agent signings in Charlotte history. If he can give us 12pts per game, it will look like a very smart investment on behalf of the FO. Offensively this team already looks much better.

I'm not ready to take it there. But it was a great first game him. I thought before and definitely now that he's gonna chance to be a good contributor.

I don't know. If Lance reaches his ceiling on the contract he has here that will blow the roof off any other signing in franchise history.

Marvin was a bit of an overpay but at a very valuable and rare position not easily found on the market. Plus after this season it's a very nice trade chip being a 7 million dollar expiring contract.

Ideally I would like to simply use Marvin as a stopgap until hopefully Vonleh or Zeller develops into that role enough to become full-time starter by the time Marvin's contract ends. Same with Gary Neal and Hairston.

    • Fans are fed up with this organization's endless string of failures. And, while Morgan's less than a year into his current position, everything he's done is barreling down the same path shat out by his predecessor. If we're just pointing out this alarming lack of discrepancy between the performances of two GMs, it's really not hating. He's just proving to not be a good hire. And, hey, it's alright, because whoever Tepper hires next will, at best, only suck a little bit less. I don't mind people who are optimistic and hope Morgan turns out to be better than he's been thus far. That'd be great. None of us are rooting for him to fail. However, the embarrassing pattern of decisions persists. And it's not a good look.
    • You have to view everything that was done in 2024 through the ‘eliminate excuses for Bryce Young’ lens IMO. It only makes sense that way.     If you allow for that, you will see that Diontae fulfilled his purpose.
    • The Panthers' beat writer called the Johnson trade return "a warm bottle of RC Cola." If you're quick to discount every bit of news that disagrees with your view, maybe your view is the problem. Morgan deals himself a bad hand and he deserves every bit of criticism for it. Fitterer was the worst GM ever, but Morgan is a very similar brand of awful. Certainly when it comes to trades since 2021, Morgan's body of work makes him at best, only one of the worst negotiators in the history of North American professional sports. That's simply pointing out the numerous shortcomings he's put on display. If I point at a guy who shot someone and say "he murdered a guy," I'm not hating on him -- I'm pointing out what he did. If Morgan wants to not be labeled an incompetent clown who makes 31 other franchises better, simply stop being an incompetent clown who makes 31 other franchises better. Or, wait until Tepper makes him the fall guy after Evero.
