David Foucault Starting at Left Tackle

I really hope I'm wrong but take away the names and ask yourself who would you rather have starting at LT.

An undrafted rookie who has only played in Canada or a 4 year starter in the NFL?

Be careful what you wish for. Bell has given up some huge plays and I'm really thankful we have a mobile QB. We have to improve at both tackles spots. There is no question. Despite the popular belief we can't replace Bell with any stranger off the street. The fact that Faucault is getting the start and that we have not brought in any competition Bell should really tell you the status of what's available out there.

The cupboard is completely bare but at least Bell is a jar of peanut butter. Hard to live off of in the long term. Hard to swallow but it's better than the alternative.

I think Foucault can become a decent player but I believe he needs a year to gain some weight to fill his frame. I wish him the best and honestly I didn't even think he would play this year let alone start. I would love nothing more for Foucault to start and never look back but realistically we are probably screwed.

If he does prove himself we would have our starting tackle for a cheap price for a few years and that means we can spend money and draft other needs.

I prefer collard greens to peanut butter.

So does Cam.

how great would it be for him to actually be serviceable? Not Bell serviceable,

the kind of serviceable that means at least he's not hurting the team.

Foucault was a problem in the red zone blocking against the Seahawks. Watching him block down on the wrong man, then realize his error and he goes outside letting the inside man free he was suppose to pick up, and then hesitating blocking neither defender. Instead of Cam going one on one he has 2 defenders to deal with while Foucault is in the way. Possible TD if he makes the block.

Another sure TD was stopped by Foucault as he ran by his man to go after Kalil ' s man at the 1 yard line. Stewart had a ton of room for the TD and Wright makes the tackle. Foucault was a foot away from making the TD block.

Foucault was directly responsible for the loss of 8 points near the goal line. Mental errors by the OL happen way too often. The OL lacks talent, they show no hustle, and they are poorly prepared for their blocking assignments. Goes back to coaching and GM.

Still better than Bell.

This is the point where a good, NFL caliber offensive coordinator starts adjusting his game plan to allow for an UDFA starting at RLT.  We should see more quick throws, see Cam rolling out to his right, etc.  Anybody feel particularly comfortable that any of that will happen?

I hope Velasco is there at LG because Foucault-Norwell on the left side would be...interesting? haha

So is our OL set to be:

Foucault-Velasco-Kalil-Turner-Chandler?

Probably:  Foucault-Norwell-Kalil-Velasco-Chandler.  Turner is listed as "out."  Going to be a good one!

Edit:  I guess I was right.

Starting offensive line tomorrow: LT - Foucault LG - Norwell C - Kalil RG - Velasco RT - Chandler
