Not too much of a mystery. Our tackles aren't good enough to handle freakishly speedy edge rushers. At least we can take comfort in the fact that the Saints defense has been abysmal, and we're familiar with what they do.

This.  The 3-4 is designed to put pressure on the edges.  Both of our OTs are gutter trash.  It's not surprising that we struggle mightily against 3-4 looks.

Yea there is no Clay Matthews or T-sizzle on the saints so there's that, but I still think we will struggle a bit. I think IF we come out throwing and maybe idk run some up tempo for a change we can win this game comfortably. It's laughable how different the saints are on the road, but who knows we could as easily get blown out! Either way I'll be there losing my voice and sobriety

I deff feel the LT needs to be addressed via free agency and another OT taken in the first 2 rounds, LT is too important and we need proven help

The only problem is that starting caliber LTs command big money on the free agency market.  Might be better off to fill RT via FA and try to draft a young LT.  I mean, worst case scenario, a high drafted rookie HAS to be better than Byron Bell at LT, right?

 

I almost feel bad picking on our OTs.  They're undrafted free agents.  They're supposed to suck.  They've been put in a position to fail.  When we had Gross at LT, we could somewhat compensate for Bell at RT by moving the pocket toward Gross.  With two subpar OTs, we're just fuged.  You can't compensate for two deficient OTs.  You especially can't compensate for it when your OC has a hard on for slow developing downfield routes.  We should be running a bunch of quick hitters to try to compensate for this dogshit OL, but Shula is a fuging moron and Rivera either doesn't have the balls to check him or is just as dumb as he is.

I remember last year moving Chandler from DT to OT the "experts" were saying how it should be a good transition because defense is so much more explosive. Any truth to that or is Chandler just not a good pro player?

We only gave up three sacks against the Seahawks and that was with our tackles badly injured. They are still probably injured... 

 

This game is pretty simple. If we can run the ball and keep possession we can shorten the game. Then it's just a matter of scoring touchdowns and no turnovers. But if we go three and out twice and are down by 21 points it's going to be impossible for Cam to pass on every play. We need balance. And we need to manage the clock properly. If we put ourselves in a pass or die situation like we did vs. Seattle, the Saints will send the house.

 

How well our offense plays depends heavily on the defense in my opinion.

The pass protection in that game was fuging awful.  Probably the worst of the season.

Yeah he was I'll give you that. I still think we could do a better job with the route combinations. Cam didn't have a safety valve other than the dirt and he wasn't going to settle for that. 

 

On the other hand the Run game looked very good and it felt like we went away from it in the 3rd and 4th quarters.
