Jamie Dukes gets it

We can at least agree on not blaming him for everything.

He does get some blame though. There is no way around it.

He'll get the opportunity to fix things though.

Of course he will.   Think bringing someone else in would do any better.

I think with the mess he has.  5 yr minimum before you start calling for his head.

Your comment about Gross is categorically incorrect (my neighbor is a close friend of Gross and told me the year before that Gross was likely retiring).  Gross was talking about retirement the year before the restructure.  He had already made up his mind.  He reworked the contract to help the Panthers....it was NOT a reason that he left.

Gross said the same thing himself in his goodbye presser.

You can really tell the poster on here that remember history, have a basic understanding of facts and can think critically.

Who we draft and who we get in as a FA is a moving target.  You have plans A through triple Z because with 31 other teams the situations are constantly changing.  Who is available?  Who makes us stronger in the long run?  What about the cap if we sign this guy?

We should have signed a quality LT.  Sure, I agree with you.  Whom did you have in mind?

For every name you give there is a very good reason why that person isn't our left tackle.  Either they wanted way too much money, were not available, were not better than Bell and Chandler (yes, that is very possible) or there was a much better deal or talent to be had at another position.

Everything G-man has done I've either agreed with at the time or understood why he made the decision.

I knew that was "Gettleman and Rivera's" mindset way back when they ignored the Offensive line, which, last time I checked, is way before I started this thread, yet I started it anyway, so obviously, I don't accept that excuse.

P.S. I already knew that you all did accept it, which is why I started it with the tone that I did.

Never assume that I don't know what you already think on Panthers-related issues. The end.

Don't assume that I don't know that you already know about what I think about what you think.....dick.

Yes, Gross reworked his contract to help the team, but he was not happy about it.  Like I said, you have to look at all sides of the equation and read between the lines.  G-man effectively knocked this year off the contract--his final year in which he probably would have played had he been left alone:

But there remained doubts about the new GM, even late in the season when he hadn't approached Gross about a new deal. As Gross repeatedly said in response to questions about his future, the new regime has a different way of doing things.

Indeed.

Former general manager Marty Hurney was loyal to a fault. He rewarded key players with contracts that, looking back, were bad for the long-term health of the team. He was particularly loyal to players who had been with the team a long time.

Gettleman's primary allegiance is to winning.

He showed that when he asked Gross, one of the team's most respected players and leaders, to knock a year off his contract -- a year Gettleman probably would like to have back now that he realizes Gross' full value.

Say what you want, Gross was feeling some type of way about G-man, in particular the way that he was treated.

But let's say that you're correct and your "inside intelligence" was that simple on its face, then that still doesn't absolve G-man of his number 1 priority which should have been to protect his franchise QB with an exclamation point as opposed to trying rotating question marks.

G-man has miscalculated a few things during his short tenure, but it happens.  Hopefully he'll get us to where we need to be.

better question what did we improve from the 12-4 season to this season...............nothing, you can argue the wr core but after that we got worse in almost every position. There's no excuse for that, if you want to argue ealy was the right pic in the second(i don't think so personally) that's fine, but we could have at least took a flyer on hurst or henderson in the later rounds, and don't give me that 31 teams passed on him bs because 31 teams also didn't have there pro bowl Lt retire along with the other problems we faced, and to say these guys wouldn't be better then chandler or bell is borderline retarded.

also fun fact,it's a rumor that we went after collins,I believe Voth stated that we never talked to his agent.

I didn't hear any racism implication but I have to agree on the LT

Anyone with any sense knew the current situation was not going to work

And if Gettleman didn't think gross would retire, hard to believe

Very sad that I believe the Panthers were close. They aren't close

They were close. Had a two year window at least.

The biggest issue in all of this is that no one will want to work under Gettleman. As long as Gettleman is the GM, the Panthers will have to rely on rookies and undrafted free agents. Players will use this team as a stepping stone. Franchise players are out of the question. No proven coach will work under Gettleman.

Yeah...That's utterly ridiculous.

First three rounds under DG, again pretty balanced. Offense: 2 - Defense: 3

Given that he didn't have a 3rd round pick his first year (thanks Hurney) if you count his actual first 3 picks each year then it's exactly even, 3 to 3, for offense and defense.

Cap space wise, he hasn't really given out any big multi-year deals. Probably the only one that qualifies for that is for the kicker Gano. He's been filling out the roster with cheap 1-2 year deals on both sides of the ball. The biggest free agent contract offer this last offseason was to an OT (Collins) who just decided to sign elsewhere.

They never offered Collins a contract or even got in talks with his agent this lie needs to stop.
