R.R. defends Bell & Chandler at presser

You don't fire a staff member without an adequate replacement. That's bad management. Also you don't continually deride an employee for bad performance. None of us would enjoy working for a boss who is telling us everyday we suck.

These are professional athletes.  These aren't your average employees.  How many people make well into the six figures per year and get a pass for continual terrible performance?  Big paychecks usually come with big expectations.  If they don't like it, they can go get an actual job like most of the rest of us and make a mere fraction of what they currently do.

Per J.Person. "They where playing well before injuries". Take it for what it's worth.

I can tell you exactly what it's worth.

At this point I'm clinging to a vain hope that maybe Nate Chandler will look half decent on the left, but I have no real expectations.

The average NFL player makes more than your average Joe. That is no guarantee they are going to be good. It's the pay structure of their profession. Also, there is a reason Byron makes $2mil compared to others at his position who can make as much as $10mil.

It's like saying an NFL backup QB should be able to carry his team to the Super Bowl cos he makes more than the average American.

Uhhhhhh he's our franchise quarterback. How the hell would we not include him in a conversation about our OL and sacks?

I don't understand why a sack taken or avoided by DA would hold any less weight.

Statistically, the Panthers are giving up less sacks per game and less sacks per drop back than last season with Jordan Gross and Travelle Wharton. Their 5.9% sacks per drop back is the league average. They are tied for 13th in sacks conceded and several teams have only played 7 games.

I realize that Cam avoids some pressure, but he's only started avoiding sacks these past three games, before that he was a statue. Conversely the injuries have been piling up on the offensive line. Bell is reported to have an injury to his elbow but he missed practice due to a "knee". He's also been hobbled by his ankle. Really he shouldn't be out there but he is for reasons.

Despite all of our offensive woes, we've only given up 4 sacks once this season, against the Lions which we won.

I agree our offensive line sucks. Cam bails them out. But he also hangs them out to dry. We are hovering around the  40th percentile in pass protection so this notion that none of our guys would even be a backup for another team comes off as overly dramatic.

We also repeatedly hear about our offensive line full of undrafted guys. Completely ignoring that we've drafted o-lineman every year since 2011. We have two guys hurt but they will be back. Kugbilla....probably not. Jeff Otah

is 28 years old by the way. Would have been nice if he had Bell's toughness.
