We know from their own words that the Panthers roster building process is a collaborative effort. Gentleman listens to input from Rivera, and I agree that Rivera lobbied for guys like Bell and Chandler, among others.

But the GM is the one who ultimately signs off on these things, so he has to bear the blame too.

Gettleman did try to upgrade the line by signing Anthony Collins, who opted for the Bucs, even though it was reportedly for similar cash:

 

An interesting note on Collins: Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer reports that Collins got a similar monetary offer from the Panthers but chose the Bucs instead. That's devastating for Carolina, who's got a major hole on the line with Jordan Gross retiring. And it's a little surprising since he could step in and start at left tackle from the get go in Carolina.

OK, OK, OK....  I'll come out of retirement and play LT. 

 

I played LT in high school (79-82),  I played LT in flag football 10 yrs ago,  I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last month.

 

Just give me a league minimum, no incentive contract and I'll get a waiver from my back surgeon and head on over to Charlotte.
