Mid-Field playcalling vs Red Zone playcalling

Chris Kroeger made an interesting point discussing yesterday's offense.

Kroeger commented that Mike Shula's playcalling was actually pretty good when we were between the 20s, but broke down severely once we got into the red zone.

Muhsin Muhammad added that he thought some of the plays which were called early in drives would have been better suited to the red zone than the field position where they happened.

Do they have a point?

(and try to give better answers than just 'Shula sucks' or 'fug Shula' please)

well first, shula sucks, fug him

lol, second, in the first half that was true. in the second half we sucked all around, i think we had less than 10 plays in their territory in the second half. i think seattle made adjustments and our coaching staff is just not capable of making in game adjustments in return.

Related Question...

If you had to choose one or the other, would you consider Shula's primary weakness to be play calling or play design?

I think with a decent OL and who his QB and WRs are....his play design would be fine. He simply lacks the OL for his design.

That Olsen is our worst player after the catch is a huge misconception among Panthers fans. Go back and look at the numbers. They do not support this claim.

if i could give the ball in space to any player on offense, olsen would be the last player i would choose.
