True but I do think he has given Gettleman a lot of control. Otherwise, Steve Smith would still be a Panther.

 

yeah this is nippleshorts' team now

 

to demonstrate the kind of pull smith had in this organization, bill rosinski told a story about a very tense meeting between JR, steve, and our OC at the time jeff davidson years ago.  things got a little heated and guess what: a coach was ordered to stand down to steve smith by our owner.

 

earlier this year that same guy was unceremoniously cut

Cam needs to get the heck off this dysfunctional ship as fast as he can. 

 

I am watching the Packer/Saints game and two QBs who are considered elite, are throwing balls all over the place, yet the teams are putting up numbers. Cam needs to be on a team where there is some consistency and it's not tied in with loses.

So we all agree that last year was really Hurney's year then? If not at what point does Gettleman actually take any responsibility for this team?

 

maybe you just woke up from a coma or something but gettleman has been making extremely tough personnel decisions since the moment he stepped on board here.  largely thanks to the guy you mentioned in your first sentence.

They will do everything in their power to keep Newton. Franchise QBs are hard to find and we have one with Cam. I think Shula will be replaced by John Ramsdell by the end of the season and we will invest in quality O-linemen when the cap space allows. We will be okay, but we will have to live through a down year until changes can be made.

Would probably bring in a coach with ties to the Giants. My guess. Steve Spagnuolo who served as Giants DC from 2007 to 2009. Spags failed with the Rams and the Saints, but he runs a defense the way DG likes to build one. I would say Gilbride but he retired earlier this year. Personally I wouldn't mind giving Jack Del Rio another shot.

He'll keep Cam if the price is right. If anything DG as shown himself as someone who has no fear of playing hardball with high profile players. I'm sure he wants too, but he won't cut his nose in spite of his face.

No thank you to more conservative defensive coordinators. We have done nothing but that since our inception and look what we have accomplished or should I say not accomplished. I will rage if we hire another one like Fox, Capers or Rivera. This is 2014 let's score some points!
