Red Zone Efficiency

Tampa Bay's offense had the worst touchdown efficiency in the NFL in 1999 (under Shula) , but improved to sixth in the league under Steckel, who was the offensive coordinator at Tennessee when the Titans made it to the Super Bowl last season

This has always been an issue with Shula. Red Zone touchdowns in the pros and in college as a play caller.

Question: should the Panthers consider just letting Cam call his own plays in the red zone and just turn him loose?

I think it's clear to everybody who has seen a Panthers game that Cam is a better play caller than Shula. His audibles go for more than Shula's plays.

I realize a lot of our offensive promblems are not Shula's fault but enough of them are that he needs to be replaced next year or i'm affraid we'll see the same inept results.

I say why not? The current play caller isn't getting it done. Let's see if Cam can do it. I know he had a bad game today and last week but he's one of the best young quarterbacks in the league. Let's see what he can do when given control.

I said it in another thread, but i just don't get how shula can't figure out more creative plays with KB, Olsen, and Cam to put guys in a position to score. Just doesnt make sence.

Jeremy I was wondering the same thing.  You cut steve smith so cam can become the leader of this team but yet dont allow him to be that leader.  Not sure whats up with that.

I'll say this again. He had a designed option with Jason Avant. That's horrible.
