Why so many taboo subjects?

You can criticize Cam, anyone can, but the idea that he's a large problem within our offense is silly. It's not even debatable, look at his statistics, hell look at his records he's broken his first three years in the league. Look at where he is compared to the "greats" when they were at year four. It's been ridiculous how much the story is always Cam, not the players around him or the coaches.

The narrative since day one in the league is he's not good enough, that's he's a toxic player, that he's immature and can't lead. It's absolutely ridiculous. He has a towel on his head, oh no! Why isn't Cam a winner? Really why isn't Cam a winner? Why aren't the Carolina Panthers a winning team should be the question, and it's not on one player, or potentially even on the players themselves.

Now if you want to trade Cam, or let him walk, what are you thinking exactly? That we can find his replacement in one or two seasons? That it's more worth it to gamble seasons away to save cap space? Have you guys seen what happens to teams without a consistent QB? Browns, Raiders, Bills, welcome to basement of the NFL. Seriously, if Cam isn't good enough who will be? People hear either forget what it's like to go through QB after QB to find someone that has any level of talent to play in the NFL or they're so blinded by whatever prejudices they have they don't care. And that's the truth.

I have never said Cam is not a "winner". I have never suggested he be traded. I have never said he should be benched in favor of Anderson. I have never said he is toxic or a poor leader.

I have said this and I have said it repeatedly:

Cam Newton is a mediocre passer with good mobility.

If you say that on the Huddle, you get crucified.

This. The problem is, is that your basic football "fan" doesn't understand the sport. They see "QB" and think... "Oh hey! That's the only position that really matters on the football field!" Let's be honest. Do we really expect your basic football fan to know anything or give two fugs about positions such as those on the offensive line, or even the offensive coordinator? The people don't understand it is a team sport and the puzzle needs to all fit together. It's just blind stupidity.

Sometimes the race card is the right card.

Ever notice how it's the "race card" anytime race is mentioned? Sometimes theirs truth to it. We're in the South not far removed from a time where certain folks couldn't do certain things, and if they did they disappeared.

Sometimes the race card is the right card.  Not every claim of racism is false.  Just this one.  When Delhomme was finished....I was on the Huddle making the same statements about him. I started some Fire Hurney threads too.  I'm equal opportunity.

If this thread was about Lafell last year, race wouldn't even come into the equation.

Now I throw some legitimate concerns over Cam's situation and instead of people talking football (some do) people would rather resort to personal insults. (The Red).  But he probably won't even get a warning.

Anytime someone says something about Cam other than "he's the goat," they are flamed. In reality he's an above average, inconsistent QB. Our line played relatively well today. He IS the main reason we lost. I love Cam as much as anybody on here, but he made a lot of poor throws and poor decisions today.

I wasn't going to write any other post tonight, but after reading this I had too. I stated when the game was on that Cam needed to sit for one possession to calm down, and I flamed for it. Love Cam to death but it was the truth. He wasn't playing well because of his will to win. But a lot of fans are blind about what really is going on in the game. A lot of people just want to blame Cam when he isn't the problem. Look Cam had poor throws but guess what? Every QB has them every game, but the difference is they have a ton of more opportunities to overcome their mistakes making them look great. Shula game plans is hurting Cam and that's the bottom line. If Cam has two mistakes the game could be over because Shula time of possession limits his chances. Today that was a big problem. Shula limited Cam by making plays with his passing. Cam was 9 for 10 at one point in the game but never really gave Cam enough opportunities to get hot. Shula and riviera needs to change the game plan for the season. Score fast to take the pressure off the defense. Make the opponent one dimensional. But Shula only know how to do one thing and that's time of possession. He know how to kill a clock.

You make great points about Shula being part of the problem.  Cam isn't the systemic problem within the offense.  Today he may have cost us, but he's done far more good then bad.

The bigger issue is what everyone points to when they justify Cam's performance.  Shula, the Oline, the WRs, the defense.  This is all true,  These are all problems that limit Cam's productivity.  Which is why the conundrum of Cam's contract is even brought up.  Continue the status quo by resigning Cam to big money (though he may deserve it), or use that money to fix the rest of the team's talent depravity.  An argument can be made for either side, but it's a legitimate question.

If only we could resign Cam for about 17 mill per year.

I know this is another fan seeking attention and is using Cam as bait but...As usual, the attacking Cam always follow up with  very weak defense of the team around him.

Yeah, Cam SUCKED but rest of the team played "relatively" good. RELATIVE TO WHO, Cam, ur "inconsistent" QB?

Yeah, We will ignore the drop ball in the Endzone  by Benjamin that could have made the difference in win/lose if you can do the math or at least tie the game. We will ignore the poor Redzone coaching that could have given the team another TD. Continue to do the math. Whine and whine about Cam over throw balls because that is the new theme song this season with some of you. But ignore the many changes the receivers missed on because u seriously expect Cam to land every fugging ball perfectly into the palms of his receivers like EVERY QB.

NOPE, we will ignore the CLEAR and OBVIOUS REASONS WHY THE TEAM LOST and focus on Cams over throws, not getting rid of the balls instead of taking a sack and whatever ish that didn't even cost the team anything. L

What a loser u are. Put endless pressure on your QB to be perfect while surround him with mediocrity and demand he wins every game.

So lets pay him 25 mill a year and continue to surround him with mediocrity because that's the best decision for the Carolina Panthers.

Yup! then maybe the psychology of this team will be, we pay this QB 25 million, maybe we need to start surrounding him with talent.

But, IN ALL honesty, i don't think it's the talent surround Cam that's the problem. I honestly believe it's those calling the shots.

If you keep building your house with bricks that are talented and expensive and the house keeps falling, then maybe it's time to check the products u are using to secure the bricks with. Just a thought. Talent along has never equaled wins. This team has a lot of talent, so exactly what is the problem?

Those guys are called homers. Don't bother with them. They would rather hear all praises for Cam rather than the truth. This is his fourth year and at this point, he may be pretty much what you are going to expect for his career.

Love how homer is used as a bad thing. If being ahomer means cheer for the home team, and fight back when people down our best players then so be it. Even the best are allowed bad games it happens, and thinking this is all that cam has is ludicrous let this team continue to build around him once these contracts are settled.

Im a homer, its better than being fair weather like the majority of panther nation.

The main reason we lost??? Look at the end of the day he didn't play well, but he walked off the field with a lead. The defense gets one stop and you aren't here making this idiotic thread.

Not putting the L on Cam, but your line of him walking off the field with a lead, while true, is somewhat comical. He walked off the field with a 3 point lead after scoring no TDs in how many red zone attempts? The D played well and we shpd have won the game had the O been called and executed better.

Legitimate thought.  Hell, it would be nice to bring Chud back.

But I do think there is a talent deficiency surrounding Cam.  Especially the O line.  Most of us, if we're honest, can admit that Cam does have some pocket problems.  Combine that with a bad line and we're looking at what happened today.  We also lack speed at receiver.  So we're calling plays that require 7 step drops with no speed on the outside.  We're asking for sacks.

Here is how clueless I am, even I realize that every team who plays the Panthers only sees Cam as the real threat to them and game play for him. Clearly there is no one else on this team that is a real threat to other teams than your QB. So what does that mean? It means he's DAMN good. Yet u continue to harp on every ish he does wrong as if he's the problem.

Why don't u get a clue and help ur QB become the next Peyton Manning, instead of the next Michael Vick. This kid has more then proven to the team and fans, that he's talented and a good learner, yet all you folks do is burn his ass out doing dumb ish instead of mastering the art of being a QB.

U seriously believe Peyton Manning became the QB he is now because the Colts burnt him out by using him to compensate for the team's weakness?
