Reasons why Shula is no longer needed in Carolina...

Sometimes Cam needs to help his teammates, not the other way around. Being a play maker doesn't excuse a careless play like that.

That's the kind of QB we have. One that is going to take risks. Another thing Shula fails at is recognizing our teams strengths and weaknesses. If our line is terrible, we call run plays right up the middle. If we can't pass, we call long bombs. Shula also hasn't realized the kind of QB Cam is. Does he hold onto the ball too long? Sometimes. Could he throw it away instead of making a play? Yes. He is going to try to make a play regardless though. Its why he's broken so many records and why we love him. I can't blame him for trying to make a play. However, our coaches should be able to adjust so that Cam and the offense isn't put in situations to fail also.

I kept on hoping to see Olsen sneaking out to the corner of the end zone for a touchdown pass, when everyone was bunched up for a power run.

That used to work very well.

Why not today?

Guess it isn't in the playbook anymore?

Its not one of the six plays that Shula calls?

Beats me.

Beats the Panthers.

Why people not saying anything about kelvin td pass drop that was huge changed the way the game turned out and was played

Because you cannot gameplan for drops or fumbles. That is an inevitable part of the game that happens at unexpected times. But you can definitely gameplan for redzone possessions, 4th & whatever with under a minute a left in the 4th qtr, and things of that nature. My pitchfork is aimed at Shula.

If KB catches that touchdown early on, we probably win this game and no one is questioning his playcalling (at least not today).

I think the offense's problem today was simply the personnel. We just have 4 jars of jizz and Ryan Kalil trying to protect the QB. And our only consistent receiving threat is a great possession receiver that isn't a threat to run after the catch.

Shula called one play that went into the endzone and probably four or five read/option plays during our redzone trips. He lacks confidence in cam playing from the pocket despite the fact that the offense looked better early in the season. You can't call plays where you don't even attempt to go into the endzone at the 10-15 yard line. You have to at least attempt to get into the endzone.

I agree, Shula is a terrible play caller / OC. If you want to say he's not creative, fine. Stupid? Fine. But can we stop with the "long developing pass plays" business? That's what we do. That's the offense we run. power run sets up the long ball. Cam is a great quarter back for that type of offense. Cam is not great at short passes and screens.

Teams that run a WCO still suck when their O lines suck.

And given quarterback

Cam Newtonicon-article-link.gif's comfort with the no-huddle approach and Carolina's success with it in Sunday's win over the Bears, it's something that might be in the mix more.

During a picture-perfect two-minute drive to end the first half against Chicago, Newton completed 5-of-6 passes for 72 yards and threw a 9-yard touchdown to tight end

Greg Olsenicon-article-link.gif. That success with the hurry-up offense resulted in Carolina using it at least once on each of the first three possessions of the second half.

Newton thrived in a no-huddle, shotgun-oriented scheme throughout his college career at Auburn, and that success has continued in the NFL when the opportunity has arisen.

"It allows (Cam) to react to what's going on," Rivera said. "When things seem to be going 100 miles an hour, they slow down even better for him. Sometimes, that's a really good thing."

"Sometimes," Shula added, "it helps make the defense react quicker than they want to."

But Shula is also quick to point out that Newton has enjoyed plenty of success with a traditional huddle that leads to him taking the snap under center. And that will continue to be the base from which Carolina's offense operates.

"I think (Cam's) good at both," Shula said. "It's good to have the balance."

This panthers nation is why this team are losers. People blaming Cam are clueless. Shula needs to get fired or stay and take a step back and let Cam have more fuging control. We didnt go to this today at all. Ron need to step up and be a better HC
