Reasons why Shula is no longer needed in Carolina...

If KB catches that touchdown early on, we probably win this game and no one is questioning his playcalling (at least not today).

I think the offense's problem today was simply the personnel. We just have 4 jars of jizz and Ryan Kalil trying to protect the QB. And our only consistent receiving threat is a great possession receiver that isn't a threat to run after the catch.

Our line was good for most of the game. Yes they had their moments, but overall they weren't the problem. This game was a great example of bad coaching.

Yes that's another point I should've made...When the offense makes a mistake, Shula uses that excuse to call a bad game the rest of the game. That was 1 drop. We were in the redzone what 3 times? Yea Cam fumbled on a play action, but why was that play called there? Again, timing is one of Shula's biggest obstacles.

I agree with this. No guts.

Whenever there's a mistake on offense, it appears he gets even more conservative.

Panthers were home. No need to play such a tight, conservative game, you knew you were going to lose on the last play series.

i blame Shula for:

#1 Cam's 60.98 QB rating today

#2 Olsen only getting 1 catch today

#3 all of our TEs combined only getting 2 catches today (1 by Olsen, 1 by Dickson)

to make it even more sad, J Stew had a pretty solid game today against one of the NFL's premier rush defenses: 79 yards on 16 carries for 4.9 ypc

One play. That was one play and the only pass attempt all game to the end zone. No excuse for that. That's on Shula.

Sent from my iPad using CarolinaHuddle

see this is the reason why i think cam doesn't bear nearly as much blame after today-

weigh the number of chances shula had to call something that would at least put the ball in the end zone and didn't

now compare that to newton's turnovers

it's pretty damn lopsided

I thought the offense was fine for the most part. Player execution really killed us this game tho.

You had

KB's drop in the end zone

Mishandled fumbled between Cam and Stew

Cam's terrible flick to the defender

Cam also had a couple of throws that were easy picks that were dropped by the defenders

Sure you can criticize some of the calls today but they were not the main reason we lost. Our OL got exposed terribly and different points of the game too.

Shula called a great game today. The players just didn't execute.

Exactly. With all the money we've poured into Stewart he should have been spending it on scientific research to give him Nightcrawler powers to bamf through the wall of 11 defenders stacked on the goal line.

lmao! Nice joke

Are you saying that Kelvin Benjamin's dropped TD, Cam's turnovers, and the defense sucking at the end didn't have anything to do with it? We called a good enough game to win. If you take any of those away, we win.

    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
    • The lack of production is especially surprising given how much effort the team put into coaxing the best from him.  In just six short years he’s had the opportunity to work with 3 different GMs, 7 different head coaches and 10 different starting quarterbacks.  There’s literally no excuse to be made that one of those combos didn’t work.  It might be time to look withIAN.
