Panthers offense vs Richard Sherman

also note that QBs quarterbacks have a 93.9 passer rating when they target Sherman this year (last season, Sherman held opposing quarterbacks to a league-low 47.3 rating on passes to receivers he was covering)

a big part of that is that Sherman doesn't have the benefit of the great pass rush SEA had last year, as SEA lost half their sack leaders in the offseason

Last year, SEA was 8th-best in the NFL with 44 sacks (2.8 per game).

This year, SEA is 3rd-WORST in the NFL with only 7 sacks (1.17 per game)

Last year, the Seahawks sacked or put opposing quarterbacks under duress on 31 percent of dropbacks, best in the NFL.

This year, not so much

SEA's whole secondary has suffered as a result: they are 5th-WORST in the NFL in pass efficiency D with a whooping 103.9 QB rating allowed

This.

Apparently, many of you have not been following the Seattle Chinkenshit this season, including Sherman.

If you watch the Seahawks play the last few weeks you'll notice Sherman's been following primary receivers. They seem to do that in clutch situations when the game is tight. He followed Dez Bryant and held him to 4 catches, 63 yards. Respect da man!

I know he did it with Dez on key downs. Haven't seen him ever do that with anyone else though

But they are facing a poor O-line tomorrow. Ours.

But, I'd love to be wrong and we play great.

Seahawks have faced two OLs just as poor in the Chargers and Rams, and SEA is STILL 3rd-worst in the NFL in sacks

Rams QB Austin Davis torched the SEA secondary for a 128.6 QB rating, 85.7% completion pct, 2 TD, 0 INT

Rivers torched the SEA secondary for a 124.2 rating, 75.7% completion pct, 3 TDs, 0 INT

Sacks, Hit and Hurries Allowed by Offensive Line

-88 San Diego Chargers (Rivers)

88 Atlanta Falcons (Matt Ryan)

84 Minnesota Vikings (Teddy Bridgewater)

84 New England Patriots (Tom Brady)

84 Buffalo Bills (Kyle Orton)

82 San Fransisco 49ers (Colin Kaepernick)

79 New York Jets (Geno Smith)

79 New Orleans Saints (Drew Brees)

78 Carolina Panthers (Cam Newton)

-75 St. Louis Rams (Austin Davis)

also note that another reason SEA's secondary looked so good last year was because they faced a lot of terrible QBs:

Kaepernick (three times)

Carson Palmer (twice) - #20 in NFL in QB rating

Kellen Clemens (twice) - #26 in NFL in QB rating

Chad Henne - #31 in NFL in QB rating

Matt Schaub - #33 in NFL in QB rating

Ryan Fitzpatrick - #23 in NFL in QB rating

Mike Glennon - #21 in NFL in QB rating

Christian Ponder - #28 in NFL in QB rating

2013 version of Eli Manning - #35 in NFL in QB rating

no, Sherman only did that in two quarters this season (vs the Cowboys) because SEA got stuck with Marcus Burley as their #2 CB due to injuries to Byron Maxwell and Tharold Simon

Byron Maxwell will be out against us, but they get Tharold Simon back, so we'll see what happens

Bob Condotta @ bcondotta 18h

Byron Maxwell also out this week so Tharold Simon will start at CB.

Curtis Crabtree @Curtis_Crabtree 18h

Tharold Simon will start at cornerback with Maxwell out.

as for Dez Bryant, Romo should have thrown it to him more as he was pretty much ass-raping Sherman when he did. Dez Bryant 's 23-yard reception against Sherman set up a touchdown and left Sherman desperately flailing on the ground badly beaten. Bryant later caught a 16-yard completion on a jump ball over Sherman on 3rd-and-5 in the fourth quarter. Sherman needed pass interference to stop him on another series.
