As for Smith you've made my point. He's always had a good career. Cam didn't revitalize his career. Smitty has always been good. Also considering the tension between Smith and Newton how can you honestly say that Cam was the reason Smith was any good?

Listen I think Cam is a really good qb and a very dynamic athlete. I'm not advocating against him. I just don't think he's worth north of 20mill a year. He hasn't earned a contract making 5 million more then Manning per year. He's earned Andy Dalton money.

I like Cam.  I think he's the most important player this franchise has ever had to this point. 

 

I'm just trying to be realistic.  Is overpaying Cam the best way to win a SB?  Can we fix our defense and get enough weapons around Cam if we overpay him, I don't think so.  Not unless we spend the next 2-3 years being mediocre while we draft weapons.

Someone should tell Rivera that his plan of letting the defense carry the team isn't working. This is horseshit. The offense was very good in 11 & 12 & very efficient last year & even this year. The defense has been absolutely atrocious 3 years & great 1 year.

Cam is going to get paid exactly how much he should be paid and the contract will be structured in a way that doesn't kill the team. The cap is going to be raised every year for the next couple years with the tv money coming in.

Seems like a bunch of fans are hoping newton leaves. He's not.

He's having a decent season but him with Brady is absolutely no better than he was with Cam so that whole Brady/Manning makes WRs better and Cam doesn't argument is bullshit.
