i had a chance to see him and jeff beck on tour in november of '89 at the spectrum in philly (around where i was living at that point in time). i had a chance and i let my girlfriend at the time talk me out of it (don't ask how she did it). i figured i would get another chance to see him again sometime.

i was 2 years old in '89 lol. and i lived in philly for a bit. saw some fuging awesome acts at the union transfer.

srv was a unique soul that is reflected in what can be a bland genre if not done right.

i have a couple bucket list musicians i need to see. hopefully i don't make the same mistake as you haha.

jason isbell is next at the christmas jam. the dude has been my life soundtrack this past year.

I hope it doesn't seem incredibly shallow of me or self serving at all, but since I started this thread and, even though I have referenced this album/band numerous times in other threads recently...

Am I the only one that can hear some pretty strong stylistic similarities between the Gomm/Hedges/etc. style and this:

Granted, this is a full band and they do have distorted guitars at various limited points, not to mention other effects and all. But compositionally, I find a LOT of similarities.

Either way, I feel like both songs/genres are examples of some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard.

Video is gone...  Was that supposed to be The Contortionist?  If so, do you listen to any BTBAM? (if you're from NC and knew them before 2005 extra points LOL)

edit: If it was, you might appreciate this. it was my jam back in HS.  Fav BTBAM song...

Fixed the original video.

Yes it is The Contortionist. SOOOO GOOOD!

But yeah, if the search feature ever returns, me and BTBAM go way back even on these forums... It was almost meme status at one point... Panthro will tell you.

I've been a fan of BTBAM since they first came out. I even have demos that I downloaded from their old mp3.com site. They are probably my favorite band ever, but damn if this recent album by The Contortionist isn't making a hard push...

As an addition...

I was always partial to Aspirations or Arsonist on the self titled CD.

I've got all of their albums and have seen them live several times.

I think my favorite song, if I had to pick only one, is Ad a Dglgmut. Just the brutality that transitions to the harmony towards the end, and the lyrical content actually reflecting that, is so amazing in concept. "It all makes sense. We're capable of beauty."
