Another Hardy Thread....

Hardy played week one without suspension while Rice was the guy suspended two games. How did Hardy all of a sudden become Ray Rice. Media? If you run your team for the national media the Panthers will cease to be relevant. They never loved us and never will so why try to win some PR contest. Your fans and your team want you to win football games, championships. We don't care if the NFL loves us or ESPN loves us. We want to kick ass!

A player gets in a fight with his ex girl. Why let the media spin it into something else. This wasn't Ray Rice. If it's Goodell I'd be mad at the NFL for this if it's Jerry I'd once again ask him will a choir ever win a SuperBowl? Just my opinion: if another team would hire Hardy you'd be foolish to let go of a franchise player for a argument with a girl.

Once the elevator footage was released.....Hardy became that same guy in the video in the public's mind. Doesn't matter his charge didn't fit that type of abuse....public/media opinion is what it is. THAT is what we had to deal with.

Elevator footage doesn't exist? Hardy is still playing

If Hardy is innocent....I doubt HE comes back. Not that we wouldn't want him. He isn't postioning himself to be ready IMO.

I think it's too early to tell right now. You could say that when we fronted him a million dollars before the season started put us on his good side.

I see what you did there.

But the NFL doesn't have final say when they sign a CBA. The players have rights in that CBA and the NFL cannot arbitrarily decide on punishment terms based on prevailing public opinion that changes daily.

Yes Greg is getting paid (for now) but his future earnings are being compromised by this form of punishment that is going on outside the scope of the CBA or any agreement. The Panthers and the league are causing him irreparable harm with this gray area limbo they have shunted him into. If Jerry was really worried about appearances just cut him and take the cap hit.

Which is exactly what happened to Rice.

"Oh, you did this. Here's a 2-game suspension. "

"Oh, you did this and now everyone knows about it. Here's a longer suspension. "

Meanwhile, the 49ers simply thumbed their noses at everyone, MacDonald is still playing and nobody cares.

He isn't banned from our facilities. He isn't working out. He isn't opting to be part of the team atmosphere.

Business side....it doesn't do him much good to come in rusty on a bad team for a few games and hurt his stock more with poor play. Last anyone saw he was dominant. What could would playing 5 games on a bad team do.....and risk injury and bad play (while rusty and out of shape).

He isn't coming to save us if he gets a quick innocent verdict

I bet Hardy can't wait to get out of the NC Courts.  I think he knows he's innocent or at least doesn't think she can prove he did what she accuses him of doing.  Pride is a big thing.  Carolina is probably the LAST place Hardy wants to be right now or later.  He signed to the exempt list in a panic-filled environment.  Now he's finding out it's nice to still get paid from the organization that at most feigned a defense of him at the beginning.  He's checked out. Why risk injury or new media furor?  "Go get paid by the Raiders" is the advice his agent should be offer.  The writing is on the wall.

I hope I'm wrong though.

Yes Hardy is getting a very well paid leave of absence, but this was a contract year for him so not playing can't possibly help his career.

If you look at this from the Panthers perspective, not only do they have to pay Hardy while he's unavailable to them - but he'll be unavailable to them while he waits for an opportunity to prove his innocence for a longer period of time than he would have been if he pleaded guilty.

There's something very wrong with a system where the punishment for claiming you're innocent is more severe than the punishment for admitting guilt.

Don't play....last anyone saw your were a beast

Play....risk injury and playing poorly. Weeks and weeks of being out of the football world means he isn't going to be in football form

You make valid points but if Hardy refused to play, that would show other NFL teams he lacked character and credibility by not supporting  a team that had payed him millions to sit. They would assume, rightly so,that he would probably prove to be undependable to them if they signed him, someone that puts forth no effort to go the extra mile. This would be  another bad issue to add to his history of personal problems, something he can ill afford.

He can spin it.

If innocent say NFL unfairly punished him. Now he isn't in football shape and can't just step onto a field. That it will take a couple weeks to get into shape.....and then season is over.

You know what really bothered me about the elevator footage and how it all went down after that came out.  WHAT did everyone think happened??  I mean we already saw the video of him dragging her out of the elevator and knew he knocked her out.  I already had the image in my head of what happened.  Everyone did or at least should have.  When someone is knocked out cold, they were pretty much hit very hard and violently to do that.   The NFL screwed up to begin with, the second video was more for shock value and to get at the NFL for only giving Rice the two game to begin with.  If the NFL did the right thing up front, that second video would have made no difference.  Instead, to make up for their mistake they went overboard.

Granted, Hardy is an idiot for putting himself in the situation to begin with, so ultimately he is the one to blame.

Hardy is on the exempt list with pay. This is not considered punishment by the NFL. He has not been suspended. A player can only be punished once per violation. Hardy will be suspended after the trial and even if he is found innocent (my opinion). Expect Hardy to begin serving his suspension next season. We will never see Hardy in a Panthers uniform again due to JR valuing his reputation/legacy over winning football games. Remember that JR is near the end of his life, and it doesn't take much to get him crying and upset. No way he'll have Hardy return.

How do you punish him if found innocent? ?

Beason wasn't suspended when his trial prove him innocent.

cuz, cuz, wait for it, wait for it .... "he was already found guilty!"

god, i've wanted to say that for so long.  this is all sorts of poo.  hardy got crapped on plain and simple.  we as fans and the panthers get crapped on even more because it really looked like a special year coming into it.  now we look weak, if not already.  might not be able to re-sign our supposed core players because of second thoughts about getts/jr.  it is literally the worst possible outcome this side of him being completely guilty of everything.  fuggin lols.
