Question about Godfrey

We make the most head scratching moves at times.......we draft bene who is a good replacement for captain but then you stick a guy who's been playing safety for 6 years at nickel after a Achilles injury against teams fastest, quick guys??? I understand benes injured but come on Harper is a liability in the pass game if were going to sign somebody to help that's fine or are we going to keep trolling Lester?

Will say the same thing I've said elsewhere.

Harper is a different kind of safety than Godfrey was. He's a smart, wily veteran type who's generally in the right place, knows how to read a quarterback and doesn't get fooled all that easily. He lacks some in athleticism, but he's the kind of player who could absolutely feast on quarterback mistakes behind a high pressure defensive line.

We used to have that. This year, not so much

On the flipside, Godfrey was never especially cerebral as a safety. His athleticism was really the best thing he had going for him and that pretty much went out the window when he got injured. Truth be told, he probably never should have been switched to safety but John Fox thought it'd work (it didn't) and Ron Rivera didn't fix the mistake until after what could have helped him be a decent corner was already taken away.

Shame, really.

Again why did Harper suck and was losing his job in NO with a defense getting a lot of pressure as well?

We should have developed Robert Lester instead of using either Godfrey or Harper.

Godfrey wasn't the same player after the injury.  Didn't matter what the position was.  He lost

too  much speed.

Sure are a lot of people harping on Harper.

He isn't playing badly.

 

They still mad about him and Steve years ago.  Couple that with the fact they still mad about Gettleman and Steve now.
