How would you build your offense around Cam?

Cam is a dual threat QB with a rocket arm who can make all the throws and can rack up 100 yards on the ground any day. If you were a GM what would be your ideal way to build a team around him. Would you focus on:

1. a stout running attack with defense ranked 6-10.

2. a down field passing attack with heavy focus on protection. Defense ranked mid teens.

3. a stout top 5 defense with him as a game manager,

4. a spread Chip Kelly type offense. Defense ranked mid teens.

Etc.

In other words what type of coach/OC would you want for this team?

Build a superior run blocking Oline.

First and foremost.........  a run blocking Oline.

Get that run blocking Oline,  and our stable of no-name RBs (after Dwill and Stewart) will suddenly start looking amazing as they run through huge holes.   Will also help Cam when he opts to keep the ball.

Get that run game going, and our passing game instantly gets better,  as defenses won't have the joy anymore of stopping our run game with 4 or 5 defenders,  while sending the rest into coverage on every other play.

1 + 3:

Rotating, deep pass rush

Quick, young secondary with hard hitting Safeties

Decent O Line

Stewart/Williams/Young RB stable

Current receiver core + young deep threat.

The good news is we can make moves to get most of the above (D Line + RBs + WR) next year, but I don't think our OL will be ready to support a top ten run game for another 2 years.

1 is the 49ers

2 is the Packers

3 is the Bengals

4 is the Eagles

Give me the Eagles spread attack with a Niners run game that can effectively control the time of possession when necessary. Gus Malzahn.

Ideally, you want to put Cam in situations were his dual threat has to be respected at all times, but you don't want him leading the team in rushing unless, as was the case against the Bengals, he absolutely has to carry the offensive load.

This. Sure, a few receivers would be great, but if the Oline could just block, Cam would kill it all day long. He has KB and Olsen, that's enough for Cam and Co. to hang 30 on anyone if the run blocking is good.

The line really is the key.  With two solid passing threats like Olsen and KB, with Cam's mobility the offense would really open up if he had good blocking in front of him.

Agree completely. If Cam has time, he can make mediocre receivers really good. If Cam has time with Olsen and KB, he cannot be stopped. Give the man an offensive line.

Firstly I would get him an offensive guru at OC.  If Peyton retired this year, the very next phone call he would receive would be from me, making him an offer he couldn't refuse. (I would pay him more than Rivera, and if Rivera didn't like it, I'd make Manning the HC heehee!)

Next I would go out in free agency and look at the best OT on the market.  Generally there is never a top tier LT on the market.  The best you could do was last year, with a guy like Jared Veldheer. (The Raiders are usually a farm team for the rest of the NFL.  They also take in aging vets looking for a place they can get paid.  We thank the Raiders for their services)  The top OT next year would be Bryan Bulaga, but more than likely the Pack will resign him.  The next guy is King Dunlap of the Chargers.  They are likely to resign him, but wouldn't be surprised if they decided to go younger and let him enter the market.  After all that, I would then draft the best available OT in the draft.  That would most likely be Ereck Flowers out of Miami, and pick up a G or two in the draft as well as in free agency.  Now in the second round of the draft, or the first depending on who is available, I would get Cam a speedy receiver.  I really love Sammie Coates.  Dude is a shorter Randy Moss with more strength.  He is a first round talent who's stock could have fallen due to injury and his own teammate.  Though with one combine workout, he could be the second receiver picked after Amari Cooper.
