Bad Hurney Contracts: Who's Left?

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

What I want to know is how bad of cap hell we will we be strapped with going forward?  When this season is over I assume some of the damage will have gone away.

What does letting Godfrey go do to us?

What is the end of the Hurney F- job.

We will be almost completely finished with Hurney's mess after the 2015 season, but DG will be creating more cap issues when he has to sign Cam, Luke, and Star, along with trying to find two T's, G's, TE, S, CB, and RB.

Cam would make over 55 million during those seasons, If the Panthers play him under the 5th year option and franchise tag him in back to back seasons. On top of that, all of it would be fully guaranteed. That's leverage, if any thing ever was.

As for his contract value, Cook is going to ask for Cam to be the Highest paid QB, with the most guaranteed money.

All the proof you need to know, thats going to happen, is too look at Jay Cutler's 7 year 127 million dollar deal and yes cam's will be worth more.

Not fully accurate.

In each one of those years, Cam would be playing on a 1 year contract, not a long term deal.  Advantage: Panthers.

So one more full season of this crap.   I assume we will be in a better situation next season than this year,

The cap will rise.   And DG will devise a steady plan to keep us going year after year while retaining our core team.

One more season of Hurney's crap, but it will be a little better next year.  Right now we have some serious dead money on the books that will slide off after next season.

However, we will have to draft very well, and groom players to stay competitive, especially after we pay the big 3.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if we have considerable dead money on the books next year also. We have 7 million already.

If we want to increase our available cap space next year our dead money is going to increase also.

Adding to the rbs, cj, and kalil..... right now davis has joined the group. That's after me saying he had a better year than luke last yr.

Plus I was met with pitchforks awhile back when I called kalil overpaid. He was the highest paid for two years. He's a top 8 C that's getting top 2 money. His contract isn't a bargin, cut about 3 million per and that's a fair deal for all sides.
