Clinton Portis on WFNZ yesterday....

My God....people really honestly believe poo like this.

You can minimize it by calling it a "belief" all you want. Actions speak louder than words.

It is a fact that the offensive line has not been a priority for Gettleman. The only question is "why"?

Beyond that point, anything that people speculate is fair.

Gettleman would obviously prefer that he does. No intelligent person can be convinced that Gettleman wouldn't have done anything he could to build up the offensive line AS HIS FIRST PRIORITY if Andrew Luck was his QB.

Look around Cam. The Panthers don't think you're the guy since your protection IS NOT A PRIORITY.

I think they sacrificed the oline and improved other parts of the team because of the lack of money and cams mobility. This gave us both the best short term and long term answer.

It sucks, it's not fair, but this is where we are. People are screaming we should have signed deshaun jackson, we should have signed blah blah blah.

Uh we sign any of those guys they won't have a qb here to throw to him worth a damn. We have no fuging money. The money we have goes to cam and then to luke.

I seriously think it's a 1% chance cam leaves if that. He's gonna be one of the richest qbs in NFL history when it's all said and done

Not "just letting him walk" would be a business move. The Panthers are a business, so of course they won't just let him walk, but Gettleman not prioritizing protecting Cam is all the evidence anyone with a clue would need to know that he doesn't actually believe Cam is the long-term solution at QB.

Actually GMan publicly saying Cam is absolutely our franchise QB is all the proof anyone with a clue needs to know that he is. Crazy people who believe in conspiracies are the ones trying to make up stories to read between the lines.

Go back and watch the postseason presser with Gettleman from last season. In Gettleman's words, "He flat out proved" he was a franchise quarterback.

Like I said...shall see. Its one thing to speak something. Entirely different manifesting it. Hell, I'm still looking for the "answer", that's "already on the roster".

Anyone who has been talking about anything on offense for the last two years other than a better offensive line doesn't know anything about football.

If you believe that you have the guy at QB, then you give him a better line, and that line makes the entire offense better because the QB has time to make his receivers better, and the running backs look better with better blocking.

Adding Deshaun Jackson wouldn't have changed anything if the QB doesn't have time for a receiver to stretch the field before he has to get rid of the ball or try to escape after the line blows up in his face.

I doubt he is going anywhere.

But for those of you saying we should all be patient, that we have to wait 2 more years to get our cap in order and to surround Cam with some weapons, sorry, but that is ridiculous. You are asking a very talented young man to wait until year 6 of his career to put a team around him?

NFL franchises can be turned around much quicker than that, especially with a franchise QB in place. Sure, Hurney left us a cap mess, but our problems have as much to do with who we have brought in and not just how much they cost.

We need to surround Cam with some talent this offseason. No more excuses.

There will always be an excuse.

People are blaming Hurney for Gettleman signing guys like Harper and Decoud. Yeah, money is tight but that didn't mean he had to sign those two knuckleheads.

We draft Kony Ealy instead of another WR because we're going to be losing Hardy. Newsflash! Hardy isn't going to be replaced that easy. Help Cam now, try and replace Hardy later.

They've had 4 years already and have done absolutely nothing. Just look at the OL for god sakes as well. I'm not sure anything will change in the next two. There's always a reason why we can put of getting weapons for Cam until next season. Times up imo.

And he's also drawing on his experiences in FA to form his opinion.

Portis was traded for Champ Bailey, at least in part because he was a bit of a head case.

Jay Cutler

Cutler wasn't allowed to walk.  He was traded for a pretty good package of picks (more than he was worth, honestly).

Were he to be offered, Newton would command a bigger trade package than what the Bears gave up for Cutler.

There will be no testing here, or there shouldn't be.  We are certainly reaching a threshold for Cam.  As far as I can see, we either give him the long term deal this up coming offseason, or we trade him.  No way should he enter 2015 on that one year deal.
