There is a reason why they all did and that's because the number is smaller then what it would be if you extend them after year 3. Cam will have his extension before he even gets close to free agenecy.

We would franchise Cam--for 2 seasons if necessary.  I am still not 100% sure that DG sees Cam as elite, but he is not letting him walk either.

When they let Julius Peppers walk I was still a fan

When JR purposely tanked a season just so he could save money and not have to fire a coach I was still a fan

Also I think Gettleman is vastly overrated by alot of people on here. He didnt exactly build a consistent powerhouse in New York. He was fortunate to have 2 teams that got hot at the right time and came out of no where to win Super Bowls. This was not a franchise like Peyton's Colts or Brady's Patriots that was consistently reeling off 11,12,13 win seasons. In this century the Giants have 3 seasons where they won more than 10 games, the Panthers, for comparisons sake, have 4. Alot of people look at Rivera and think theres a reason he went through so many years and interviews before becoming a head coach, maybe theres also a reason it took Gettleman 25+ years to become a GM
