Why is everyone in a rush to watch Cam leave? Cam is going to get PAID here. The business side of things is that we have to get the cap squared away. In the next two years (Which Cam is UNDER CONTRACT FOR!!!), we're going to free up a bunch of cash for him, Luke and whoever else.

We're having a bad year. This is the NFL, it happens for most teams. How often to Franchise QBs leave teams? What are the circumstances? Do those circumstances match? Also, why would the Panthers let Cam walk? That's why there is a franchise tag, which he would be stuck with regardless.

Cam will be a Panther, unless he completely implodes. I don't see that happening, even with the weak supporting cast this year.

How many qbs have played a full year under the tag? If you know he wants to test the market, tagging him would be dumb. Let him test the market and get it over with. Same reason tagging Hardy was dumb, he wanted the most money he could get and he didn't care who gave it to him. That's why a deal wasn't done. His plan was always the biggest pay day, and if he really wants to do that rap poo Charlotte ain't the place.

Agree Jeremy.  The huddle discussed this 6 months ago.  Now its being discussed outside our market.  He wouldn't be the first superstar to opt out of the Panthers.

Fans think that because they are upset the players must be upset as well. The truth is with the organizations that do a good job of keeping stuff out of the media, fans really don't know what is going on.

I believe Kroeger brought up yesterday that Cam has already blown off contract extension negotiations until the season is over.  It's a definite possibility Cam won't be here after his 5th year.

We are going to limp through this season and still be in a position to win the Division and make the playoffs AND we will be another year closer to giving GMan full cap flexibility and responsibility. I'm not worried.

Cam is not Gettleman's guy. Could that have changed? Not sure. I'm not sold on getts or the combo of he, shula and RR. We shall see.

The problem with this franchise is that to get anyone to stay you have to offer max money. Idk if Cam is going anywhere but it is going to take max money to keep him. Which is ultimately the biggest problem.

It's a problem because you want to pay QBs max money who have won something of significance. Cam still hasn't. The problem is that you don't know if that's just what Cam is or if it's bc the team around him is so shitty. I tend to lean toward the latter view.

This draft and offseason will tell us a lot. DG isn't going to be the type of GM who just waits and loses 1-2 seasons bc he's not prepare for a Cam departure. If he gets the sense that Cam is going to go into FA he'll draft a talented QB...and then watch this fanbase meltdown.

Not to mention that with our young core we are in much better shape than any other team in the NFCS.

If you were watching you knew we overachieved last year and you knew we were going to regress some this year. We are doing the right things and are in the right position to lead the Division for several years. Still not worried.

The biggest thing the Panthers can do to convince Cam to stay is invest heavily in offensive line via draft and free agency next season.

 

 

If we still have Bell and Chandler as starters next season, the Panthers have practically packed his bags for him.
