Mitchell and Cam aren't comparable as faras skill levels and what they mean/meant to this team, however; hopefully we learned a lesson and as much as I dislike Gettleman, he can't be dumb enough to let Cam test FA

Sure, that makes sense. I am saying tagging him with the expectation of playing him a year is pointless.

But to play devils advocate, unless he fakes an injury, him tanking one season while tagged would do more harm to his contract value than good.

If things are looking bad for an extension draft a replacement, tag Cam, and let replacement learn the system for one year, then let Cam go.

Cam even if he wanted out, I don't think would be a guy to poison everyone around him in the locker room.

The smart decision for Cam would be for him to leave asap.

 

Gettleman has put together an offense this season that should have resulted in his firing. It is a minor miracle that Cam hasn't already sustained a season ending injury. Our offensive line alone is historically terrible. Nate Chandler is the worst RT I have ever seen starting for an NFL team. I literally lose my poo watching him get destroyed every Sunday. Our OGs are busts. Our OC is average, and I'm being kind. Our WR corps is the worst in the NFL, and it's not even close.

 

Our secondary, after a few injuries, is now the worst secondary I have ever seen.

 

What QB would want more of this torture when there are other options available. Why put yourself in extreme danger season after season if you have an option out? Why not line up behind a premium o-line, with good WRs? I'm surprised Cam hasn't punched Gettleman out. What a bunch of losers he has to play with this season. Chandler is the worst of them, but he's not alone.

I've been having nightmares of Cam going to Dallas or NYJ the day we drafted him. The FO has surrounded him with garbage and 30% of the fanbase doesn't appreciate his talent. If I was Cam I would be looking elsewhere as well.

Not realistic. Romo has the 100 mil contract and they probably have the worst cap in the NFL. They had to cut guys like Ware just to get under the cap and they have already mortgaged their future on the present. Not to mention they still have to pay Dez Bryant and Murray.  Thats like saying your going to buy a 50k car when your making min wage and living off food stamps. The fact is Dallas is flat out broke by the amount of bad contracts they gave out and they had to borrow from their future just to pay the bills now.

All reports have been that Richardson and Cam are pretty tight, and Big Cat knows the revenue Cam brings in. I would be shocked if Richardson doesn't personally get involved if push comes to shove.

This is my hope as well. Kids absolutely love Cam, and those kids are our future die-hards. Spend some time in Charlotte on gameday and notice the legion of little Newtons around town. How many #17 jerseys did we ever see? JR has to be aware of this. Losing Cam would be damn near catastrophic.

Ja'Wuan James was picked about where we could expect to pick even without a playoff win, Jason Verrett about where we'd pick with a single playoff win, and Bradley Roby was picked about where we'd pick if we do catch fire at the right time, get our franchise DE back, and make it to Glendale. All amazing scenarios for us and why not considering our amazing fortune in the draft since Cam.

Joel Bitonio is another. Immediate impact stud at a position of need. Would have been available even if we won the whole fuggin thing. There are numerous reasons to believe we'll find help at positions of need in the near future, and zero reasons to believe Cam is not our long term QB. I'm siding with the numerous reasons over zero.

JR won't let Cam leave. He's the only thing keeping the franchise relevant. Imagine what the Panthers would look like if they had drafted Gabbert instead of Cam. Because that is what it'll look like if he leaves.

Same answer I gave Roaring Riot. With Hardy franchised, nobody. Tackles got ridiculous money this offseason and most of them are proving they weren't worth it. Likewise, if one of the top tackles had fallen in the draft, we wouldn't have Benjamin. Reaching for need in a later round wouldn't have been a good decision either.

I definitely think bad decisions were made this year, but it has to be acknowledged that there weren't a lot of options.

Hardy off is off the books next year. Completely. Getting someone like Collins and investing in five years with a cap hit of six million each year is not really feasible for us (it would have been more for us to outbid tampa). We really have no money because of cam and Luke's contracts coming up
