you're a running joke on this forum and you're the only one not in on it.

your post was idiotic because you bolstered the entirety of your blatherings on the premise that cam must've been furious that steve smith got run out of town, while literally all the evidence points to the contrary. your ability to perceive reality is fundamentally flawed and it shows up in almost everything you type on this website.

When did I say Cam was furious about Smitty getting ran out of town? My point is that Cam has to be seeing how much more play Smitty is getting on ESPN this year and how leaving Carolina has revitalized his career. As someone who has way more "icon" potential than Smith ever did, I think he has to be thinking if the same would happen with him if he bolted.

Common sense really. I have always thought Cam would test free agency.

In fact, he may consider a slightly lower offer to a team with a stout offensive line. This would only extend the chances of him having a long healthy career and in turn make more $$ in the long run.

Cam is not particularly tied down to Carolina. If a larger market comes calling with more money to spend, he will go.

I don't think our FO is stupid enough to let a franchise QB go. Well at least I hope they not but you never know with Gettleman. He might just pull Cam in a corner and say he isn't good enough and only a read option QB.

It is amazing the insecurity that at times runs rampant in this fan base. Some of you guys feel like we don't deserve Cam Newton.

If we still haven't worked something out this time next year I may start to sweat it, but for now iI will just enjoy the team and worry about the other stuff later

I'm just going off 25 years of Charlotte pro sports that tells me the only superstar we've ever been able to resign was Steve Smith. Literally all others left in their prime or right after their prime with plenty of good years left.

and I'm going off the Franchise tag and the NFL not other sports

Tagging him would be pointless. If it comes to that, just let him leave and get a decent compensatory draft pick in return. Forcing a franchise QB to stay when he doesn't want to is a recipe for an awful season.

Exactly what I've been saying. No point in tagging a guy who's just going to be a free agent the following season. I'd make Cam sign this offseason or trade him. If he "tests" free agency he's as good as gone.

Cam isn't going anywhere.

Gettleman would literally have to be the worst GM in the history of the NFL to allow that to happen on his watch.

If Cam were to end up leaving, Gettleman should start packing his bags.

We'll have to "overpay" to keep Cam more than likely (tho in my opinion he's worth whatever contract he gets), but you do what it takes to keep him here.

Yeah, even though I've been a bit critical of Gettleman for a few decisions, he is a smart man, and he knows talent for the most part. He's got eyes, and he can see that Newton is still very much carrying this team, even with an OL that wouldn't even make it in the college ranks.

I expect that he will be making big moves in the offseason to build a real OL around our franchise QB.

I'm not so sure Gettleman is willing to 'overpay' anybody, Newton included.

That said, there's a lot of debate on what constitutes 'overpaying'.
