Keep an eye on De'Andre Presley

Presley is still on the PUP but last week started to practice. He was returning punts along with Philly Brown.

 

 

The Panthers now have 2 more weeks to decide what to do with Presley, and last week Rivera indicated they would not rush a decision.

 

But the situation has changed, now Philly Brown is concussed and the Panthers are without a punt returner.

 

This team needs a spark, and Presley could be just that. It was obvious in practice he is far more quick shifty than anyone else on the Panthers offensive roster. Presley appears to have kept his cardio and speed in gameday shape. Blackburn will be active next week, which means Glanton will go back to the practice squad. The Panthers will have the room to move someone up to the active roster when that happens.

 

It would be a big gamble, but really, why not put Presley out there and see if he can shake a punt return loose for a long gain. Worst case scenario is he fumbles a punt, which Philly may have done anyways. If that happens, put Bersin back out there for a safe catch and return.

He plays faster than that. He was faster than AE at App, but AE ran a 4.4 at the combine

He has much faster moves as the ball hits his hands. Cuts quicker. Much more shifty. Has a little Steve Smith in him.

Because those are the feel good stories you root for as fans which is why we are still hoping for something out of Brandon Williams or Brenton Bersin.

I don't see these threads as promoting "The Next Great Practice Squad Hope" but rather an optimistic introduction to a player who might be on the field soon who most fans don't know much if anything about.

Rather have Bersin back there.  He's sure handed, and it looks like he has agility/burst even though he's not fast.  If Bersin won't get many touches on offense, let him get his touches on special teams.
