Ron Rivera hasn't lost the team.  They just played their hearts out against the Bengals for essentially 5 quarters.

They played hard till the end of the game, even though we were getting pummeled.

We just got outplayed and got down big early, and couldn't ever get our footing.

Wait, your group got pissed at your LT for following the orders he was given and upholding the oath he pledged? Not only is your analogy bad, but I have zero respect for those who, because of their own distaste for political or military policies, decide that they are not bound to them or use them as excuses for their own poor judgment. It's the military, for fug's sake, OBEYING ORDERS IS THE fuging JOB DESCRIPTION.

I can assure you that your respect means zero to me and my buddies.  As I stated, it was a poor decision we were kids. Did you serve?  Wait a second..

IS THIS LT. GONZALES!!!!!  YOU BASTARD!!!

This.

He did his job, you're the idiots who didn't do your job. I would have done the same damn thing. I don't care how bored you were or how great you felt drunk. That was against what you said you'd do. Good thing you didn't have to defend one another or this country in that state you were in and proved what a disgrace to the country you were. And I agree, going against Muslim tradition is stupid when your at war in their country. There are reasons these rules are in place, reasons your ass needs to be inside a building during their praying time. This is why we are looked down on by other countries and it's a shame a up standing LT who does his job properly has left the services due to retards such as yourself.

If he did serve would it make a difference? What does that have to do with anything? Doesn't disqualify anyone from seeing you as an idiot, whether you care or not.

That said, the analogy makes no sense from this standpoint.

It actually means quite a bit. If you have never spent a day in the desert or understand what and how things go down over there shut your fugging mouth.

If you have zero knowledge of a chain of command or how mother fugging easy it is to keep it "in house" shut your fugging mouth. And, if you have no idea what it means for a young LT trying to bury his troops to get another bar shut your fugging mouth. I do, and the analogy works.

Yeah, Rivera's really looking to make his bones so he can move up to head coach.

Wait. . .

Wow, alright.. I will type slow.

RR didn't have his players back, players saw RR him not doing this.  Players now feel jaded by RR.  Players do not play up to talent level.  RR is the boss (or the LT) and is judgedmeasured by how his players (troops) perform.  RR is released of his job (command)

analogy NOW COMPLETE... I know RR and his players are not getting shot at, have motor attacks etc.  Do you now follow what I'm saying.  You see grasshopper, you do not take an analogy and line by line try and compare each instance, you look at the ANALOGY as a complete body of work..

Christ.  I need a drink

I think you're missing the choices here. There's not a scenario where there's no punishment. The choice the LT had was between handling it himself or passing it up the chain for someone else to handle. There's also the subtext the reason he passed it up the chain was to cover his own ass not necessarily for the benefit of the unit.

If it were all black and white, anybody could be a leader.

Now for the actual Panther relation. I haven't seen the team give up yet, so I still feel it's more a talent issue than effort. I would also argue they're actually trying too hard. They're so worried about giving up the big play, they're tight and not playing loose. Defensive is mostly read and react and they're thinking too much.

The concept of losing a locker room in the NFL doesn't mean that guys aren't trying to win.  The average career in the NFL is so short and the competition is so insane that it would make no sense not to bust your ass for your coach or anyone else with decisionmaking authority who is asking you to do something.  Don't do it and you'll be out on the street looking for work.  Oh, and you'll be unlikely to find it because it's a small organization and word gets around quickly.

I agree with this.. However, if the players stop buying into a system or into what a coach is saying it shows on the field IMO.

Have to admit that when I was in the military, I bent some rules.  Perhaps even broke a few.  I got caught a couple of times, suffered some minor punishment.  Didn't get caught for any of the big ones.  Guess I was lucky.

I do believe that the Hardy incident was a distraction.  An understandable one at that.  I can see it impacting us for a couple of games.  But if, as you say Rivera lost the team because of the Hardy issue, then either Rivera or the team needs to go.  These are grown men getting paid a whole lot of money to do a job.  That should be all the motivation necessary, and if its not, then we should get rid of them.  And I think the players are smart enough for the most part to understand that the NFL is a public entity and at times has to respond to public pressure.  We can complain all we like, but in the end Gettleman, Rivera, and Jerry Richardson had no choice but to do what they did.

If Greg Hardy does turn out to be guilty, and the defense all of a sudden gets better when and if he comes back, then the blame for his problems and everything associated with it lie at his feet, and his feet alone.
