Rivera is Losing the Team

we have yet to play Atl. and still have one w/TB............just to name a few without looking.

You honestly believe we are going to be able to stop Matt Ryan, Roddy White and Julio Jones? Don't forget, we have a one of the worst defenses this year. They have been suckin this year, but they will be able to do everything against our D. Now the Bucs, I'll give you that one. But other than that, I don't see it.

It should also be pointed out that Atlanta's entire OL is injured.

If Rivera is losing a team in first place our players are weak minded pussies

I don't think he has lost the team, and I think the team will keep fighting

The team can keep fighting for themselves and pride, not for Rivera. Just b/c they tune him out I dont see how that makes them weak minded pussies

Losing the team and not being a NFL coach are 2 different things. It's pretty rare a "players coach" like Rivera loses the team in terms of them wanting to play. You saw it with Fox. The team was awful during our 2-14 season but every game we came to play (hence close loses that year).

If you wanna argue that Rivera isn't a very good NFL coach, I can probably get behind that.

Man I'm with u. I been feeling like he lost the team for a while, but also think the team has lost the heart and well. The team don't believe in one another. They players are playing for their self, not the person beside them or as a team. They don't believe in one another. Rivera problem is be believes and has to much trust in his defense. This game told me a lot. At the beginning he gave the ball to greenbay putting pressure on his defense from the start. Every game he puts to much pressure on the defense. He don't know poo about offense. He isn't a good time manager and he lets Shula sorry ass control that. If I was a player I wouldn't believe in my coach at all.

Rivera's yet to figure out (except a brief time last year, and during the 2nd half of 2012), that HE'S THE PANTHERS HEAD COACH, AND NOT THE HEAD DEFENSIVE COACH!!

I'm not sure he lost the team myself.

There's an ebb and flow to the NFL season, of course. The Panthers, can certainly right the ship. And we'll see?

However, the Panthers have shown very poor, repeated displays of untimely-critical penalties; bad tackling, and poor clock management, lack of aggressiveness, and decision making on Rivera's part, to go along with the player ones. So I can see why some folks would make that argument. Sometimes the Panthers, just appear like a Pop Warner team.

If that is the case they need to stop playing for themselves and pride and start listening to their coach. It didn't work too well

I don't however think that is the case.

I dont think he lost the team, I just think you're looking at a slow ass team and certain pieces that makes things a little easier are out. Too many dependent units instead of independent units. What concerns me is Rivera doesn't see it that way. Its clear changes need to be made, but if not and we keep losing the same way the players are going to tune him out

Help me out here. How can Rivera go from COY to not being a good NFL coach? It makes no sense to me...

Happens all the time.

It just means, all things fell into place for him, and he had a career year.

It's better to look at what he's done and haven't done his first 3-4 years in the league.

Don't be fooled by the COY moniker.

Jason Garret, of the Cowboys, maybe this years COY. However, don't be shocked, if next year, both he and Dallas under performs again, as they've done his previous 4 seasons.

Remember, truly excellent coaches win year in year out.

Good coaches, win most of their years.

Average coaches are 500.

And below average coaches, lose more than they win (in seasons or total games).

So far, Rivera's at best an average to below average coach. The worse part is: not when you look at Rivera's record, but when you look at his actual coaching, and game management, or more accurately, lack of it.
