the official "Dave Gettleman fuging sucks" thread

I don't disagree - I actually agree with the decision to keep him. The problem is what we did after that - we restructured Stewart and Godfrey, gave contracts to really bad secondary players and expected them to start, did virtually nothing in either free agency or the draft to fix our OT situation, and more.

Good lord.

We had to sign guys that would play for cheap, on short term deals so we weren't strapping ourselves when if comes time to extend Cam and Luke.

Godfrey took a straight pay cut, not a restructure.

Stew is an anchor this team can't wait to get rid of, but can't because of Hurney Fever.

We couldn't afford any LT/RT at the number that they got paid this offseason.

Players are more likely to take less money when the GM isn't an arrogant asshole. I don't think Captain was a major money thing. Players want to be paid and when they perform they should. Dollar Dave too busy telling guys how much they aren't worth. That will have people jumping ship real quick. The main reason Bell is playing LT right now is because he undervalued Jordan Gross into a paycut.

OK, if you want to know which part of this is inaccurate.......

I bolded the incorrect portion.

This division is pretty much the best of the worst, not a huge accomplishment. If you go 7-9 and win the division, you still had a losing football season.

Did you guys not listen to DG when he took the job?

When he said it was going to be pretty painful for the next couple years?

Bill Polian's not going to be a GM ever again because he's 71 years old

Who else do you want instead of Gettleman

I would like Eric DeCosta, but Baltimore won't let him go. Omar Khan wouldn't be bad. I shy away from guys who come from crappy programs. DeCosta has been in BAL long-term and Khan the same with Pittsburgh. Khan would be a young choice.

Anyone who mentions Bill Polian as a GM they want loses any and all credibility from me.

the fact people are calling out DG after we just got blown out shows the lack of knowledge in this knee-jerk culture.  DG didnt play one single down this last game, but there are 45 players who did and a few dozen coaches that failed to prepare the team.  That is where the focus needs to be.  We already knew what the roster looked like early in the summer.  This is the same team that beat a tough Lions team 24-7 so they are capable.

I would pick Gettleman over Khan because he doesn't have the experience, he's not known for much besides being young, and the Steelers have had cap problems recently, not as bad as ours yet he hasn't overcome them and maintained their championship contendership ability. So why you think he'd do better here is beyond me. DeCosta is never leaving Baltimore so there's no way you can consider him unless he has a falling out with that organization

Every FA that was signed this season has been a bust so far.

Well I guess the WRs have been decent so far.

Well remember when Gettleman said something about "touchdown scorers" and how a lot of the Panthers community was all about having old ass Cotchery come in and score touchdowns, because that's the only statistic that matters at the WR position apparently? Cotchery has zero touchdowns this season, Avant only has one, and Kelvin while having five caught at least two of those in garbage time against the B team.

Now I would love Cotchery or Avant as a number three option, but not number two. Kelvin right now is a 1-2 with super low YAC. Actually I think he's the lowest YAC receiver in the top 30 or so in the league. If Kelvin is going to be our number one we really need someone at the two position that can ball hard. Olsen can catch, but he's a Tight End, we need more options than one TE and one WR. If we wanted just bodies than we should have just went with out UDFA all stars instead of signing two old WR.
