Goes back to Madden Syndrome. I really hate blaming a video game for this, but what else can it be?

I can fix the worst team on Madden in one offseason, it should work in real life too.

There may be worse fanbases but having dealt with this one for such a long time I can honestly say that panthers fans are some of the most uninformed out there. Nobody can pinpoint exactly what the problem is (which isn't too hard) when we lose games. Either they want everybody fired or they act like everybody's doing an all star job and treat mediocrity like it's the most coveted prize in the game.

Granted, a lot goes into a free agent's decision where to sign, but I'm pretty sure the question of "will the GM be nice to me" isn't all that high on a lot of guys' priorities.

The Patriots have won Super Bowls and we have nothing. The Patriots GM can be an ass all he wants.

Nah, all fan boards are the same. For most people, every one/thing is either all-pro or garbage that needs to be thrown out depending on the week. On the flip side you get the folks that circle the wagons until the very end (like the posters here that defended Hurney until the day he was fired, now poo all over him and are sitting on Gettleman's lap).

 

He deserves at least another year or two before you can really judge how he's doing for sure. Drafting seems a wash or slightly less than Hurney so far, but we haven't had a chance to see how he manages the money/contracts as he's stuck in a pretty poo situation there. He hasn't made any dumb contracts and he's 50/50 on building a team from scrap parts (good last season, terrible this season). So nothing really great and nothing horrible.

Do I think Gettleman is the be all and end all reason the Defense is completely unreliable this year? No. Do I think his decisions have played a role in it? Absolutely. I think it's certainly fair to question some of Gettleman's decisions, but he's hardly done anything that would warrant him losing his job, or the ultimate trust some seem to have in him.

DG knows this is not a long term solution, it's a short term one.  We shouldn't have been as good as we were last season, and I, and many others called for some deflation, roughly to about an 8-8 season this year.

 

 

It's all about the Cap, and Cam.  You want long term success, or short term, while letting Cam walk after next season?  That is the only question that needs to be answered if you are blaming DG for our inept team.

 

 

 

And if you pick the first one, and I can certainly understand why you would, you have to be prepared to be looking for another QB in less than 2 years.

Most of the people who know what they're talking about and have been following this team for more than two years know his background and how many problems he inherited that hurney created

Yea it hasn't even been 2 full years since he took over Hurney's mess....here's a clue...contracts are normally longer than 2 years and he has to deal with quite a few shitty ones. So no you haven't been hearing it that long at all.

Besides the Smitty fiasco that was handled very poorly,I'll give Gettleman another 2 years before I start raising hell!

Calling for the man to be fired is obviously complete idiocy. He has made some good moves, and he has made questionable ones. But it doesn't help that we have so many front office homers here who lump anyone not literally sucking Gettleman's dick in with the few idiots.
