This Is All Gettleman People

Our fanbase has so few brain cells.

Look, G-Man did fug up by not acquiring more talent on the OL and by franchise tagging Hardy (who the hell saw Greg being charged with domestic violence and this poo storm from the NFL though) but the reason why we're getting blown out ain't because of our front office. It's because we're soft, unprepared and don't know how to adjust during real-time. This squarely falls strictly on the coaching.

If you truly believe you can have what we have at OL and in our secondary and succeed, you're not too intelligent. The coaching staff can only do so much. Don't get me wrong, our coaching staff isn't the best but it goes back to Gett more than them.

Gettleman takes orders from upstairs, is working with a limited budget. Don't believe the stuff about being in cap trouble, teams that want to spend find ways to spend and structure contracts to stay under the cap, teams that care more about profit than winning don't spend for players or coaches. This will continue to be a problem for a few more years, then at some point we hold our breath and hope for the best as far as ownership.

I gotcha, but with Hurney's contracts still on the books we are severely limited.

Do I think we should have kept Smitty and addressed Oline instead of WR?

Yes.

But Getts still has a severe Hurney ignorance handicap.

We still managed to spend over 9 million on our new secondary and we chose the old & tall.  DeCoud, Harper, and Cason weren't necessarily cheap.  Chris Cook took a 750k contract from the 49ers.  Hell Jimmy Smith on the Ravens is making less than DeCoud, Harper, and Cason respectively.

really... who gutted the secondary?

Well it is hard to choose between keeping your pro bowler DE in Hardy or paying the secondary. This is before Hardy got in trouble. DG did what he thought was best. DG  can't help that Hurney left him in cap hell for years. DG is working with what he has to work with. DG ain't the problem. 1st problem is the cap. We have very little of it right now and 2 Ron and his staff can't work with what he has on the roster. Ron and Staff is one of the main problems right now. Fire Ron is the first step and second step is finding a HC who has winning history. Plain and simple.

He completely ignored the OL and signed a few scrubs for our secondary; all while thinking the "hog-mollies" could get it done. Well, you see how good that mentality works without your best pass rusher. The defense is perfectly fine when it has a good rotation of DEs to get sacks up front; however, when you're missing half your DEs, the secondary gets exposed. Meanwhile on offense, our rushing attack has been about the worst I've ever seen it... all because Gett didn't place any effort into the OL; risking injury to our entire backfield and preventing any prosperity even if our backfield is healthy. This has little to do with the coaching staff, they're the same as they were last year for what it's worth. But you can only do so much with so little. I don't know if Gett just planned to use this as a throwaway year or what but the majority of blame should be on him.

I finally agree....I thought I understood his concept, but there is a huge difference between blow outs and competing. ..He fugged up and as an evaluator he should have evaluated that these SOBs couldn't protect Cam against winds going 2miles an hour

  • 4 weeks later...

It's a combination of Gettleman/Rivera/Shula.

None of the three should be fully exempt from blame.

Rivera picked Shula as his OC, chose an old college teammate as his special teams coach and backed Bell and Chandler as the tackles.  Gettleman signed off on all of it.

Regardless of who you blame the most, the guy who probably ends up paying for it at this point is most likely Rivera.
