Ron Jaworski on Cam Newton

Seems like Ol' Jaws is speaking out of both sides of his mouth:

Published today: http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11710366/philip-rivers-rising-ron-jaworski-updated-quarterback-big-board-nfl

Ahead of Cam:

1. P. Manning

2. A. Rodgers

3. P. Rivers

4. T. Brady

5. A. Luck

6. R. Wilson

7. D. Brees

8. B. Roethlisberger

9. E. Manning

10. M. Ryan

11. T. Romo

12. J. Flacco

13. C. Kaepernick

For everyone thinking Jaws is being inconsistent for praising Cam about how he has been playing this year and then dissing him on this list, you need to realize that Jaws' list incorporates a QB's entire career and not just this year. It's kind of a stupid list but that is how it's done.

A quick reminder on these rankings: They incorporate the full body of work for a quarterback's career, not just the first six games of this season. They are weighted toward 2014 play, but players such as Aaron RodgersPeyton Manning and Tom Brady have built up plenty of capital, and they aren't leaving the top 10 anytime soon.

Nice catch.

What's the point of that though? It's a "what have you done for me lately?" league. QBs should be ranked on how they perform now, today, rather than what they've done in the past.

Yes clearly that's why Andrew Luck is higher than drew brees and others his body of work is just so impressive

I was just listening to PTI and when asked about Carolina, Jaws brought Cam. Here is something along the lines of what he had to say.

"When you think about the hottest QB's this season, you think of Peyton Manning, Phillip Rivers is having a great season, but I think the hottest QB this season is Cam Newton. He has been having a great season. He doesn't have the best receivers or help around him but he looks like a much more comfortable pocket passer."

Looks like some on ESPN know what they're talking about.

i pied because of the things that jaws said, but you lost me about some at espn knowing what they are talking about. i was just about to respond with this likely being a case of a blind squirrel finding a nut, but then i read the next post about jaws talking out of both sides in my mouth and saw that my thoughts had already been confirmed.

jaws talks out of his arse regularly. every once in a while he may get things right, but then he'll open up his mouth again and show that it was an accident.

is that why he crowned kaep as the bestest QB ever?

It's just nice to hear some Panthers praise out of this fan base every once in a while.

I also hate how he thinks Colin Kaepernick is going to be the GOAT, now that's just ridiculous.

It's only that ("what have you done for me lately)".

There are many QB's on that list, who haven't had a better career than Newton. So even that list is flawed to begin with (alongside "Jaws" incorrect assessments of Newton's QB play, especially in light of other inferior ones).

I'm still trying to figure out, how he could watch RG3, Cam, Kaep, and Wilson, then argue how Newton leaves the pocket too soon, and needs to develop as a pocket passer.

Huh?

So those other guys are "developed" pocket passers, especially in comparison to Cam Newton!? :startle:

I think not!

So for that, and other reasons; I can't respect anything the man says.
